Grand Junction, Colo.— On the third day of the RMAC Track and Field Championships, notable accomplishments were observed from both the women's and men's teams. The women secured third place in the championships with a total of 120 points, while the men finished eighth as a team with 27 points.
The 4x400m Relay team for the women, comprising Simon, Miller, Hoogsteen, and Amiadamen, established a fresh RMAC record by clinching the top spot with a remarkable time of 3:43.65.
In the women's 1500m,
Elena Carey showcased her prowess by clinching the top spot with a remarkable time of 4:21.45. Tristian Spence (4:23.86) and
Ava O'Connor (4:24.27) followed closely, securing second and third place respectively.
Maggie McCleskey claimed the fourth position with a time of 4:25.49.
Morgan Hykes secured the tenth spot, completing the race in 4:35.90, while
Stephanie Cotter finished twelfth with a time of 4:39.02.
During the women's 100m Hurdles, Alena Chaney showcased her agility, clinching third place with a time of 14.16 seconds. Later, in the women's triple jump, Chaney exhibited her jumping skills, securing seventh place with a distance of 11.50 meters.
In the women's 400m Dash,
Alese Sartain (55.30) and Isilia Apkup (55.31) exhibited their speed and endurance, securing third and fourth place respectively in a closely contested race.
Apkup also showcased her versatility by finishing eighth in the 100m dash, displaying her speed and determination on the track finishing with a time of 13.17. Apkup continued to impress, finishing sixth in the 200m dash, showcasing her speed and endurance over the shorter distance.
In the women's 800m,
Lieke Hoogsteen emerged victorious in the 800m race, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:08.28, closely followed by
Jessica Simon in second place (2:08.66). O'Connor finished fifth respectively with a time of 2:12.77.
Victoria Amiadamen secured second place with a time of 59.08s in the 400m hurdles event.
Emily Schoellkopf secured the top position with an impressive time of 16:46.23.
Fiona Hawkins followed, finishing twelfth with a time of 17:39.82, while
Erin Stonebarger claimed the fifteenth spot, crossing the finish line in 17:52.57.
Amalia Dorion rounded off the group, finishing twentieth with a time of 18:08.29.
On the men's side,
Neveh Jones secured the fourth position with a time of 52.80 seconds in the Men's 400m Hurdles.
In the Men's 5000m race,
Emil Bezecny achieved the fourth position, completing the event with a time of 14:31.13.
In the Men's 4x400m relay, the team consisting of Bafukila, Smith, Hatcher, and Jones secured the fourth position, crossing the finish line with a time of 3:18.86.
As the RMAC championships come to an end, the Grizzlies are gearing up for their next competitions. They have an exciting opportunity to participate in two events on May 4th: the CSU Pueblo Last Chance Invitational and the Portland Twilight competition.
