Box Score 2 Lubbock, Texas – The Grizzlies battled through two tough matchups on the second day of the Lubbock Christian University Tournament but came up short, falling 12-2 to Chadron State and 7-3 to Sul Ross State. Despite late offensive surges in both games, the early deficits proved too much to overcome.
Game One vs. Chadron State College
Chadron State's offense exploded for 12 runs on 12 hits, powering past Adams State in a six-inning contest.
Lauren Zimmerman led the Eagles at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Ashland Baca and Sophia Brennan also homered, fueling Chadron State (1-0) to an early lead with three runs in the first inning before sealing the win with a five-run sixth.
Tori Haug (1-0) earned the complete-game victory, striking out seven while allowing just two earned runs on five hits.
Adams State (1-6) broke through in the fifth inning when Grace Hendrickson delivered a two-run double, but the Grizzlies struggled to generate consistent offense against Haug's dominant outing.
Game Two vs. Sul Ross State
In the second game of the day, the Grizzlies put together a late rally but ultimately fell 7-3 to Sul Ross State.
Sul Ross got on the board early with an RBI double to right field from Tori Owens. They extended their lead in the fourth inning with another RBI double from Kyndell Garc before Alyvia Quint launched a three-run homer, making it a 5-0 game.
Adams State responded in the fifth, cutting the deficit to two runs. Kaylee Eyl smacked a two-run double, and Grace Hendrickson followed with her second home run of the day, bringing the score to 5-3.
However, Sul Ross quickly answered in the bottom of the inning, tacking on two more runs to put the game out of reach.
The Grizzlies will look to bounce back tomorrow as they continue play in the LCU Tournament, taking on Texas-Permian Basin at 9:00 a.m. before a rematch against LCU at 1:00 p.m.
