Adams State University Announces 2025 High-Altitude Cross-Country Distance Camp

Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State University is excited to announce the 2025 High-Altitude Cross-Country Distance Camp, scheduled for July 20–25, 2025, in Alamosa, Colorado. This esteemed camp offers junior high and high school athletes an unparalleled opportunity to learn and train under the guidance of Coach Damon Martin, a 42-time national coach of the year. Martin's leadership has propelled Adams State to 42 national team championships and has developed 1,419 All-Americans and 147 individual national champions.

Participants will receive instruction from Martin, Coach Alec Duncan, Coach Kyle Masterson, and an accomplished team, gaining insights into the training methodologies that have established Adams State as a leader in distance running. Athletes will be grouped according to their abilities and goals, ensuring tailored guidance that fosters individual progress. The camp includes focused learning sessions taught by expert coaches and professionals in their fields.

Dr. Brian Zuleger will teach a dedicated class on sport psychology for high school athletes. Zuleger is an expert in the field, with experience working with groups and athletes from youth levels to Olympic competition. He serves on the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee mental performance directory, is a certified mental performance consultant, and has coached at the collegiate level. His session will equip campers with mental skills to perform at their best on race day.

The camp will also welcome Coach Chuck Schwartz to the instructional roster. Schwartz has been coaching for 29 years, and his honors include induction into the Adams State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016 and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Hall of Fame. He was named CHSAA Colorado Girls 5A Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023, USTFCCCA Colorado Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and USTFCCCA National Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2023.
