CLEVELAND – Adams State University capped off a stellar winter season by securing the No. 9 spot in the NCAA Division II Learfield Directors' Cup standings, as announced Thursday morning. The Grizzlies earned 237 points during the winter season, bringing their overall total to 422.
Adams State is one of three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) programs to crack the top 10, joining No. 3 Colorado School of Mines and No. 10 CSU Pueblo.
The Learfield Directors' Cup, developed by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) in partnership with USA Today, awards points based on institutions' finishes in NCAA Championships across multiple sports.
The Grizzlies surged in the rankings after an impressive winter campaign, with four teams making national tournament appearances. Women's Basketball secured 25 points for Adams State after finishing 33rd in its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.
In Track & Field, the Grizzlies delivered a dominant performance, earning 160 points after both the men's and women's teams placed fourth nationally. Additionally, Men's Wrestling contributed 52 points with a 22nd-place team finish.
The Grizzlies look to make a jump in the rankings with a strong spring season with final rankings being released June 10th.
