COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Preseason Coaches' Poll for Men's Cross Country was released Thursday at noon, announced by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Adams State Men's Cross Country team was predicted to finish second behind 2024's National Champion Colorado School of Mines. Adams State received 4 first-place votes and 10 second-place votes, totaling 186 points. This follows Adams State's outstanding 2024 season, when they finished third at the National Tournament behind Wingate and Colorado School of Mines. Adams State aims to continue its strong tradition in the 2025 season and to compete for another National Title for the university.
Looking at the rest of the conference standings, Western Colorado finished third with 161 points, receiving 2 second-place votes and 7 third-place votes. UCCS followed in fourth place with 156 points, earning 1 second-place vote and 4 third-place votes. CSU Pueblo rounded out the top five with 131 points and 1 third-place vote.
Following the top five was Colorado Christian in sixth with 130 points and 3 third-place votes, Fort Lewis in seventh with 124 points, Colorado Mesa in eighth with 105 points, MSU Denver in ninth with 98 points, New Mexico Highland in tenth with 70 points, Black Hills State in eleventh with 67 points, South Dakota Mines in twelfth with 57 points, Chadron State in thirteenth with 42 points, Regis in fourteenth with 38 points, and in fifteenth was Westminster with 19 points.
With two returning First-Team All-RMAC selections in 2024, Adams State will look for Kidus Bergashaw and Housem Hrabi to lead them on their journey to a National Title run in the upcoming season. Both Kidus and Housem ran at Nationals last year, with Kidus placing 14th, and Housem placing 44th, earning both individuals 2025 Preseason All-RMAC honors. Along with Housem and Kidus on the Preseason All-RMAC team was Junior Julian Campos, who also ran at Nationals last year and placed 30th overall. Between their three returning National Title runners, Adams State will look to close the door on Colorado School of Mines and Wingate University, who have won the last two National Titles.
Adams State will open up their season here in Alamosa as they will host a meet the weekend of September 6th. This will be a great opportunity to watch Adams State's runners as they seek out to win their 13th National Title and their first since the 2016 season.
