ALAMOSA, Colo. (November 20, 2014) – With his senior season of football at Adams State University now over,
Cariel Brooks will continue to showcase his talents in January as the cornerback was recently selected to participate in the second annual Medal of Honor Bowl game.
"This is big time. I want to play professionally and I always thought I could do it. This opportunity allows me to play on the same platform as NCAA Division One players and I look to dominant and play well in the Medal of Honor Bowl game." Brooks said.
The forthcoming Medal of Honor Bowl kicks off on January 10
th, 2015 at Johnson Hagood Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina. The game features the nation's top draft eligible college football players which are coached by former NFL head coaches. The majority of players are from NCAA FBS conferences but select individuals from smaller schools, such as Brooks, also receive invites to participate.
"It was a big goal." Brooks said in regards to being selected. "I needed this opportunity to showcase my talents and show I can play with NCAA Division I players."
Out of 98 players who competed in last year's bowl game only 15 came from NCAA Division II institutions.
In 31 games with the Adams State, Brooks totaled 99 tackles, eight interceptions, and 31 pass breakups. He was most recently named to the All-RMAC First Team.
