tonight in their game against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) foe, the Colorado Christian University Cougars. With
tonight's victory, Adams State opens the 2015 homecoming weekend festivities in correct fashion. The Grizzlies earn a much needed victory and improve their overall season record to 3-10, 2-3 in RMAC play. With
tonight's win Adams snaps a two game losing streak.
ASU wins
tonight's game against the Cougars via set scores of 25-13, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23, and 20-18. The Grizzlies lost the first two sets, but roared back to win the next three sets in a thrilling comeback fashion. The offensive abilities of trio
Paitton Heltenberg,
Mallory Grimsrud, and
Alex Parker were in full display
tonight. As a unit, the three players contributed 49 of the 65 kills scored by the Grizzlies. Heltenberg lead the team with 18 kills while Grimsrud and Parker each posted 16 and 15 kills respectively. Grimsrud also proved to be defensive thorn against the CCU attack as she collected three blocks to lead the team. Setter
Katelyn Schwartz had a very busy day at the office this evening. Not only did she lead the team with 50 assists, but also she led the team with 18 digs. She proved to be the glue that kept the comeback attempt together.
With tonight's victory coming on homecoming weekend, it appears that success has found it's way to Head Coach Lindy Mortenson's program. In a comeback fashion and the offensive unit seeming to gel right at the nick of time, it seems as though the Grizzlies have cooked up a winning formula with some big RMAC games on the horizon. The Grizzlies will now prepare for RMAC opponent the Western New Mexico University Mustangs. The Grizzlies will play the game at home from Plachy Hall at
