Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 4, 2015)—The Adams State University Grizzlies women's soccer team took to the pitch earlier today as they hosted rival team, the Western State Colorado University Mountaineers in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) match up to close out the Adams State homecoming weekend. While the Grizzlies were able to get an early lead, they couldn't fend off WSCU, as they dropped the game 2-1.
The first period saw the Mountaineers come out strong as they opened up with a corner kick, but they did not capitalize.
Shelby McBain was the first to get a shot off, but was denied by Western's goal keeper. After a corner kick by
Dezirae Armijo, the Mountaineers would try and take the lead, but
Molly O'Connor couldn't be beat.
Lacey Daniel would get the assist from McBain to score the lone Grizzly goal in the thirty- third minute of the game, and put ASU up 1-0 heading into halftime.
The second saw the Mountaineers tie the game up at 49:13.
Hope Cruz would try and get the lead back for Adams State, but her shot would end up wide of the net. After what was a back and forth battle between the two teams, Western State took the 2-1 in the seventy-forth minute.
Arin Seidlitz would get a corner kick, but unfortunately the Grizzlies couldn't get a shot.
Daniel would lead the team with two shots, while
Mikaela Schmidt, Seidlitz, Cruz, Armijo, and McBain would each tally one. The Grizzlies would total seven shots, with three of those on net. O'Connor would make three saves on the day.
Adams State will next take to the pitch on October 7
