WBB| Northern New Mexico and Fort Lewis Preview

ALAMOSA, Colo. (December 1, 2015)—The Adams State University Grizzlies women's basketball team will return to the court this week after a four game stretch away from Plachy Hall.  After starting the season 0-4, the Grizzlies look to kick-start their season with home bouts against Northern New Mexico College and Fort Lewis College. They'll play Northern New Mexico College (N.M.) on Wednesday (12/2) and close out their weekend against the Skyhawkson Saturday (12/5). Wednesday's game is scheduled for a 6 pm tip-off and serves as the team's home opener, while Saturday's match-up is slated for a 5:30 pm start.

Last Time Out
ASU last game was on Nov. 14 against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) newcomer Westminster College. The Grizzlies lost by a score of 66-28 in the final game of the Skyhawk Regional Classic and were offensively led by Cydney McHenry who scored nine points.

About the Eagles
The Northern New Mexico College Eagles are a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and compete as an Independent in the Association of Independent Institutions (AII). The Eagles are led by Head Coach Tony Gallegos who is serving in his first year as caretaker of the program. Before coaching the women's team, he served as the assistant coach for the men's program. So far NNMC has compiled a 2-5 overall record this season but have lost three consecutive games. In their last match-up, the Eagles lost to Sal Ross State University (TX) by a score of 55-51. Junior guard Demetria Clichee led the team offensively with 14 points. Northern New Mexico College is based in Espanola, NM.

About the Skyhawks
The Fort Lewis College Skyhawks are members of the RMAC. So far this season, the Skyhawks have erupted to quick start, compiling a 4-1 record with wins over Eastern New Mexico, Northern New Mexico College, and Saint Martin's (WA). The Skyhawks are coached by Jason Flores, who is in fourth year at the program. Offensively the Skyhawks are led by a trio of play-makers. Dallas Dickerson, Astrea Reed, and Mary Rambo all average 11 points per game and are vital members of the Fort Lewis offensive attack. Coming off the bench, Dickerson serves as Flores' most valuable offensive asset. For the season she has connected on 47.6 percent of her shots. Shot from downtown are just as deadly, and converts at an outstanding 40 percent from shots beyond the three point line. The Skyhawks are based in Durango, Colo.
 
The last time the two teams met, Adams State beat the Skyhawks by a 77-74 score thanks to a solid 10 point performance from Lena Jaycox. Her final two free throws sealed a victory for the Green and White after a thrilling come from behind victory.
