ALAMOSA, Colo. (December 10, 2015) – Adams State University started their conference schedule off strong by handing Fort Lewis College their first loss of the season. This weekend they hope to build on that with games against Colorado Christian University on Friday and the No. 15 Colorado School of Mines on Saturday. Both games are slated for a 7:30pm tip-off.

Last Time OutWhen last we saw the Grizzlies they were at home against Fort Lewis on Dec. 5
th. ASU went into the locker room with a four point advantage. Yet, five minutes into the second half they saw that lead dissolved and eventually lost the lead all together. From then on the lead would change hands another eight times. The Grizzlies took the final lead change for the win 73-65.
About Colorado ChristianThis year the CCU Cougars have earned a 4-3 record thus far. Although they had a rough outing at the RMAC/ Heartland Challenge. Colorado Christian followed that up with two strong performances against Simon Fraser University of British Columbia. They also won out in the CCU Thanksgiving Tournament against Bethel and Bethany College of Kansas. The Cougars enter Alamosa on a one game losing skid dealt by Colorado School of Mines last weekend.
Colorado Christian is led by Zach McLemore. McLemore is currently ranked seventh in the RMAC for points per game, fifth in the conference for three-point field goal percentage, and third for three-point field goals made. Other notable Cougars include Wayne McCullough who is tied for third in steals per game and Ty McGee who is second in the conference in defensive rebounds per game.
About Colorado School of MinesThe fifteenth-ranked Orediggers are 6-1 and have heated up for a four-game winning streak. Their only loss this year has come at the hands of UC-San Diego of the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Colorado School of Mines currently has the highest scoring offense in the RMAC averaging 85.2 points per game. They also have the best field goal percentage hitting 48 percent of their shots.
Colorado School of Mines has Gokul Natesan ranked fifth overall in the RMAC with 21 points per game. Natesan is also known for moving the ball around with 4.7 assists per game, ranking fourth in the conference.
When Last We MetColorado Christian-75 Adams State-98 The Grizzlies played host to the Cougars last season on 1/24/15. ASU's Michael Middlebooks notched two steals and seven blocks while
Juwan Buchanan exploded for 30 points and 7 rebounds. These efforts paced the Grizzlies to a 23 point win.
Adams State-94Colorado School of Mines-91 The Grizzlies played the Orediggers earlier in the 2014-15 season to the tune of a 30 point loss. However, the two foes met once again in the RMAC Shootout. Again Buchanan led the Grizzlies in points with 24. A 17 points and 12 rebound performance from ASU's
Mike Hemsley also helped out as well.
Justin Kauffman subbed in and buried a 3-pointer with five seconds to go to sneak past Colorado School of Mines and move into the semifinal round of the Shootout.
Long Distance BattleThe Grizzlies and Cougars who play on Friday are two of the best three-point shooting teams in the conference. The Grizzlies are ranked first in 3-point field goals per game and 3-point field goal accuracy. The Cougars are ranked second in both those statistical categories.
