Mark Mabry, Jr. and
Hailey Zobel have been selected as Adams State University's 2014-15 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Scholar-Athlete representatives. The news was announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
In his last season with Adams State wrestling, Mabry Jr. finished with a 15-11 overall record. During the NCAA West Regionals he took third place at 174 to earn a trip to the NCAA Division II National Tournament. After the conclusion of the season, Mabry was named to the RMAC All-Academic honor roll along with earning RMAC Second Team All-Conference distinction. As a History major, the Benson, Arizona native maintained a 3.75 GPA.
As a Sport Management major with a 3.72 GPA, Zobel appeared in 17 games with three starts for the ASU women's soccer program during the 2014 campaign. The senior midfielder/defender helped Adams State finish the season strong with a 4-1-1 record during the last six contests. Adding to her busy student-athlete involvement, Zobel was an active member of ASU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was also selected to the RMAC All-Academic honor roll.Â
About the RMAC Scholar-Athlete award
Administrators from each of the 15 RMAC institutions chose a male and female student-athlete as their honorees. To be eligible for the RMAC Scholar-Athlete award, individuals must compete in one of the conference sponsored championship sports; carry at least a 3.30 Grade Point Average (GPA); be a starter or reserve on their respective team; be of good character and must have participated at the active member institution for two (2) or more seasons. True freshmen and first year transfers are not eligible for this award.
