Grizzlies close out 2017 with four-game series against CSU-Pueblo

ALAMOSA, Colo. (May 3, 2017) – The Adams State University baseball team will host Colorado State University-Pueblo in a four-game series May 5th through May 7th. The two teams will play a single game on Friday (3:00 pm), a doubleheader on Saturday (12:00 pm & 3:00 pm) and conclude on Sunday (12:00 pm). All of the games will be played at the ASU Baseball field.

Saturday's doubleheader will serve as Senior Day featuring a special ceremony to honor ASU's departing senior class.

Last Time Out
The Grizzlies were scheduled to play a four-game series in Las Vegas, New Mexico last weekend against the New Mexico Highlands University Cowboys but extreme winter weather conditions forced the cancelation of all games. The last time Adams State was involved in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action was against Colorado Mesa University April 21st through April 23rd in Alamosa with Adams State dropping four games in the series.

Scouting The ThunderWolves
CSU-Pueblo enters weekend action with an overall record of 21-22 while holding a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record of 15-14. The ThunderWolves have won their last four games including a single victory over the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs last weekend before the remainder of the series was canceled due to winter weather. Their record on the road this season is 6-10. The 2017 squad boasts plenty of experience with 16 juniors and 16 seniors on the roster. CSU-Pueblo's offense features four players batting above .360 and is led by junior Chris Devery with a .369 average. The ThunderWolves pitching staff brings a combined 5.95 ERA into this weekend's series.  

Scouting The Grizzlies
Adams State enters play this weekend with a season record of 11-31, 5-23 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Grizzlies' offense is led by Erik Hildebrandt with a .403 batting average, followed closely by Evan Weidner's .372 average. The Adams State pitching staff is led by Josh Keaton who has a 4.97 ERA while compiling a 4-6 record on the year.

Last Time We Met
These two teams have already played four games this season. CSU-Pueblo won two RMAC games in April while they split two non-conference games in February. All four meetings have been played in Pueblo. The last time the ThunderWolves played in Alamosa was in May of 2016. CSU-Pueblo won two of three games in the series.
