ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Grizzlies Football team will wrap up the 2018 campaign at home this Saturday inside Rex Stadium. The Grizzlies will look to end the season on a high note as it will also be Senior Day.

KICKOFF
The Adams University Football is set to close out the 2018 season this Saturday, Nov. 10 against the Dixie State Trailblazers. It is Senior Day this weekend for Grizzlies Football and 15 athletes will be recognized tomorrow prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff.
The Grizzlies closed out the road portion of their schedule last weekend at Colorado Mesa. Despite coming up short in the 64-63 overtime loss, the Grizzlies had a record setting day as the offense set a school record in total offensive yards with 769. Another first for the Grizzlies was that it was their third overtime game of the year, which is the most in a single season for Adams State.
2018 SENIOR CLASS
Prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff, Adams State will honor 15 seniors. The 15 players who will be recognized are

The 2018 Grizzlies Football senior have all played a major role in their time at Adams State. This group has established one the nation's highest scoring offenses, one of the top defensive players in Division II, a number of school record holders, and memories on the gridiron that fans will remember for years to come.
SALUTE TO VETERANS/SPUD BOWL
Additionally, Adams State Athletics in conjunction gameday sponsor SLV Health will also be doing a Salute to Veterans. All veterans and their family members will receive free admission to the game with a valid ID. Adams State Athletics is also extending the free game invitation to current military members, first responders, police officers, and firefighters in the community. They also be allowed into the game for free with valid ID.
Saturday's game against the Trailblazers is also the annual Spud Bowl. Fans will have the chance to take home a free five pound bag of potatoes with the purchase of a gameday program.
SERIES HISTORY
Adams State and Dixie State will square off on the gridiron for the ninth time overall this Saturday. The Trailblazers have won the last two matchups. Prior to the back-to-back losses, the Grizzlies had won three-straight against Dixie State. Overall, this young series is tied a 4-4, but the Grizzlies have the edge on their home field with a 3-1 record inside Rex Stadium.
RECORD SETTING OFFENSE
Entering the final weekend of the season, Adams State continues to rank in the top-10 nationally in a number of offense categories. The Grizzlies lead Division II in passing offense (337.7 YPG), fourth in total first downs (263), and ninth in total offense (499.0 YPG). They are just outside the top-10 in scoring offense at 15th (40.3 PPG). The Grizzlies had a record setting day as the offense set a school record in total offensive yards with 769. Another first for the Grizzlies was that it was their third overtime game of the year, which is the most in a single season for Adams State.
Quarterback
Nick Rooney has been one of the top performers in both the RMAC and in all Division II. He is second in the RMAC in passing touchdowns (30), third in yards (2,755), third in average/game (306.1), third in total offense (2,992 yards) and fourth in total offense/game (332.4 yards). In Division II, his 30 touchdowns are third, while his 2,755 passing yards are 11th most. His 332.4 total yards per game is 14th most and his 306.1 passing yards per game is 11th.
Senior wide receivers
Chad Hovasse,
Marquese Surrell, and
Miles Fishback all continue to play a major role in the success of the nation's top pass offense. Hovasse is tied for the RMAC and Division II lead in touchdowns with 19. His 1,268 receiving yards lead the RMAC and second in Division II. He is second in the RMAC in receiving yards a game (126.8), while ranking third in Division II. He leads all of Division II in receptions per game at 9.9. His 99 receptions this season is the single-season record in Adams State history and is just one shy of 100 for the 2018 season alone.
Surrell has been a two-way threat on offense and on special teams. He is tied for fifth in the RMAC in touchdowns (7), fifth in average/game (106.5 yards), and second in receptions/game (8.8). On special teams, Surrell leads in the league with 26 returns, while his average of 23.4 yards/return is fourth. In all-purpose yards, he is third with 1,654 total yards and second in average per game (173.8). His all-purpose average is eighth in all of Division II. His 8.8 receptions per game is second in Division II.
Fishback is second on the team and tied fifth in the RMAC with seven touchdowns including the gamewinner in the 48-42 overtime win over Fort Lewis College. He's pulled in 25 catches this season for 374 yards. He also has two passing touchdowns on the year. Another go to weapon for the Grizzlies is running back
Tyree Harris.
He is the team's top rusher averaging 107.8 yards per game. He's racked up 1,078 yards on the ground and has 10 touchdowns on the year. He is just 80 yards shy of breaking the single-season rushing record which is 1,157 yards set by Bill Stone in 1984.
Harris has also pulled down 27 receptions for 396 yards. His total rush yards are fourth in the RMAC, while his average is fifth. He is tied for fourth in touchdowns. In all-purpose yards, Harris is fifth in the RMAC in total yards average with 1,474 and 147.4 yards per game. His 10 rushing touchdowns is tied for 35th in Division II, while his 1078 rush yards are 18th alone.
DEFENSIVE PLAYMAKERS
Entering the final weekend of the regular season, defensive back
Garrett Jackson continues to lead the way for the Grizzlies defense. Right behind him is fellow defensive back
Sipa Leafa who has provided a spark in his freshman campaign. Jackson currently leads Adams State with 115 tackles, with 66 of them being on a solo effort. He leads the RMAC in total tackles and solo tackles. His 11.5 total tackles per game is tied for sixth in Division II, while his 6.6 solo tackles per game is ninth.
Leafa is second totaling 80 tackles, with 48 being solo. His total tackles are tied for ninth in the conference and his 48 solo tackles are tied for fourth. He is tied for the team lead in interceptions with Jackson as both have two, which is tied for 11th-most in the RMAC. His 76 combined yards on interception returns is fifth-highest in the conference.

SPECIAL TEAMS OUTLOOK
Special teams wise, the Grizzlies have just one touchdown return this year thanks in part to
Keyon Thomas. He had an 82 yard kickoff return to the house against the Cowboys in week three. A key weapon is Surrell, who is leads in the league with 26 returns, while his average of 23.4 yards/return is fourth. In all-purpose yards, he is third with 1,654 total yards and second in average per game (173.8). His all-purpose average is eighth in all of Division II. His 8.8 receptions per game is second in Division II.
Ruiz has been a key factor in kickoff and has been a workhorse for the Grizzlies on special teams. He is tied sixth in the RMAC in made field goals with six. He is 6-8in field goals which is third in the RMAC in percentage (75.0). His 61 points are sixth among kickers in the RMAC.
