ALAMOSA– The Adams State University baseball team (1-25, 1-11 RMAC) is set to take on Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, Colorado this weekend. The contests will begin with a 3:00PM matchup on Friday, followed by a double header on Saturday, and ending on Sunday with a noon game.

The Grizzlies could not steal a game from Metro State University of Denver though they came very close on two occasions. The Roadrunners soundly won games one and two by a final score of 16-10 and 13-2 respectively. The final two games would slip away very late however. In game three, Adams held a solid 6-3 lead heading into the top of the sixth. From there, the Roadrunners' Dylan Nelson blasted one out of the park for a three run homer to tie things up. ASU would answer in the bottom half off a
Ryne Niemi single to regain the lead 7-6. Metro would double in the final inning to take the advantage back and the Grizzlies could not answer, losing 7-8. In game four, an 11-11 tie heading into the ninth was shattered off a three RBI homerun by Trent Maloney of Metro.
About Colorado Christian:
The Cougars are 9-13 overall and 4-8 in RMAC play. Though struggling on the season, the team did score an 8-5 upset over sixth ranked Colorado Mesa, one of only two losses in conference for the Mavericks. CCU currently ranks seventh in the RMAC. Austin Maltby has a team leading 24 RBI's and four homeruns. Joey Loranger has spent 31.1 innings at the mound this season for the Cougars pitching 33 strikeouts and allowing a .252 batting average.

The Grizzlies took one of four last season in Alamosa. The Cougars took game one 8-4, game three 19-16, and game four 16-6. Adams State stole game two 16-15.
