• Adams State enters 2019 with a 1-8 overall record following a non-conference road loss to Missouri Western back on Dec. 30, 2018. With RMAC play picking back up, Adams State is 1-4 in conference.
• The Grizzlies wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule last weekend with a road game against the Griffons of Missouri Western. The Griffons won the bout by a final score of 74-53.
• Adams State will return home for the next four games following their road trip. They will host Colorado School of Mines and UCCS on Jan. 11 and 12, respectively.
Adams State Breakdown
• The Grizzlies are averaging an even 58.0 points per game going into this weekend's doubleheader. They are shooting 38% from the floor overall and 26.1% from beyond the arc.
• Defensively, Adams State is the opposition to score 66.4 points per contest while allowing a 39.6 shooting percentage. Opponents are averaging 29.1% from three-point range against them as well.
• The Grizzlies continue to boast one the RMAC's best free throw shooting percentages as they enter the New Year. They average 74.8% this season and 107-143 shooting at the charity strip.
• Still leading the way on offense is guard Stephanie Ruiz who averages 15.7 points per game.
• Ruiz is the only Grizzly averaging double figures and is shooting 41.4% on the year. She is seventh in the RMAC in scoring and 12th in field goal percentage. Her 33.3 shooting percentage is also fourth best in the conference.
• Guards Ki'asha Harris and Brooke Neal continue to affect both sides of the ball for Adams State. They are the team's top rebounders and are both top-three in scoring. Harris grabs the most boards averaging 6.6 per game and is the second leading scorer averaging 8.1 points.
• Harris' rebounding average stands alone at 14th in the RMAC and not far behind her is Neal who is pulling down 5.2 boards per game. Neal is also chipping in 7.8 points per game to help out on offense.
• Marshell Hollins still leads the way in facilitating the Grizzlies offense as she has 26 total assists in nine games play and is averaging 2.9 per game. Her average ranks 12th in the conference and she is scoring 7.4 points per game and is fourth on the team in scoring.
• Forwards Maddie Dorris and Lowendie Laporal still have the most blocks at seven a piece. In nine games played they are averaging 0.8 per contest. They are tied for 14th in the RMAC with the averages.
• Joining the Grizzlies prior to their Dec. 30 game is forward Winnie Tyobee. The 6-1 junior will look to add more depth on the front court for the Grizzlies as RMAC plays heats up. She comes to Adams State as a junior college transfer from Labette Community College.
• Hollins, Neal, and Ruiz all continue to lead Adams State in steals. Hollins is on top with a 1.3 average per game. Neal is right behind her at 1.2 steals per game. Ruiz is third averaging 1.0 per contest. Hollins average is tied for 22nd in the RMAC.
• The Grizzlies are the second best free throw shooting team in the conference and a big part of that success is Harris. The senior is the RMAC leader in free throw percentage at 91.2%. She has knocked down 31-34 shots at the line in nine games played this season.
Scouting Chadron State
• Chadron State enter this weekend's games with a 1-10 overall record and is 0-5 in RMAC play. CSC started the season with a road win against Texas A&M International but has dropped 10 straight since then.
• The Eagles are the last in the RMAC in scoring offense (16th) at 53.7 points per game and shoot 38% from the floor overall. They shoot 25.3% from three-point range.
• Defensively, CSC is also last points allowed. They allow 75.1 points per game and allow opponents to shoot 40.5% from the floor.
• Taryn Foxen is the leading scorer for the Eagles with an average of 12.7 points per game. Her average ranks 17th in the RMAC and she shoots 40.5% from the floor.
• Jessica Lovitt is the top rebounder for CSC averaging 4.4 boards per game. McKenna McClintic is second on the team at 3.9 rebounds per game.
• Jori Peters and Foxen have the most assists at 22 apiece to lead the Eagles. Peters leads the way in average with 2.4 per game, while Foxen is second at 2.0.
• Protecting the paint is Savannah Weidauer. She has 14 blocks this season in 11 games played and averages 1.3 per game. Her average is tied for third best in the RMAC.
• Foxen and McClintic lead the way in steals with 14 and 11, respectively. Foxen averages 1.3 steals per game while McClintic is even at 1.0.
Scouting MSU Denver
• MSU Denver is 3-8 overall and 2-3 in conference play going into the weekend. MSU Denver has dropped its last four contests, with three of those losses coming against RMAC opponents.
• The Roadrunners are averaging 56.7 points per game and shoot 37.1% from the field. They 14th in the conference in both categories.
• Two players are averaging double figure points in Jaelynn Smith and Emily Hartegan. Smith is putting 16.0 points per contest while Hartegan is at 13.6. Smith's average is fourth highest in the RMAC and Hartegan's is tied for 11th.
• Both Hartegan and Smith also lead MSU Denver in rebounding. Hartegan is on top at 6.8 boards per game, while Smith is right on her tail at 6.5. Both rank in the top-15 in the conference with their averages.
• Smith is the offensive facilitator for the Roadrunners averaging 4.7 assists per game. She has 52 total in 11 games played. Her total is the most in the conference, while her average is second highest.
• Bree Wellington protects the inside best for MSU Denver as she has nine blocks on the season. Her 0.8 block average is tied for 14th in the RMAC.
• Jaiden Galloway averages 1.9 steals per game to lead the the Roadrunners and is tied for seventh in the conference. Smith is right behind her at 1.8 per game and Jonalyn Wittwer is third at 1.3 steals per game. Wittwer also leads the team and RMAC in minutes played at 35.4 per game.
