Grizzlies Look to Close Out Home Schedule on a High Note Against Mesa, Western

ASU Women's Soccer
The Grizzlies look to defend their turf after going 0-2 this past weekend against Dixie State and Westminster College. Just coming back from a disappointing weekend of traveling, the team looked to bounce back against Dixie State in a Friday afternoon game. Unfortunately, the Trailblazers shut the Grizzlies out in a 5-0 loss.
Looking to split the weekend, the Grizzlies took on Westminster College in a Sunday morning matchup with hopes of a win. Coming out swinging, Grizzlies netted the first goal of the game off a corner kick and header assist. Grizzlies played a strong game in the beginning, but Westminster played impressively in the latter parts of the first half and beginning minutes of the second half. In the last 20 minutes, Grizzlies returned to their adept play in hopes to pull off an upset but were unable and took a 3-1 loss.

Scouting Colorado Mesa
The Mavericks come to Alamosa looking to forget a disappointing game they recently had against CSU-Pueblo. Despite tripling Pueblo's shots on goal, doubling Pueblo's shots, and having more corner kicks, the Mavericks took an upsetting 1-0 loss. Steering Colorado Mesa into this weekend is Taylor Jones who leads her team in goals with 4. Assisting Taylor is Ryanne Parker who has the most points on the team with 5 assists and 2 goals. Mavericks contain a lethal and balanced offense with 7 girls on the team having scored 2 goals each this season. The Mavericks offense has outscored most teams they have faced, netting 21 goals as a team while their opponents have only scored 12 against them this season. Mesa looks to win against Adams State to improve their current 7-5-1 record (4-4-1 RMAC).

Scouting Western Colorado
Western Colorado recently faced CSU-Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands University in a homestand of their own. The Mountaineers pulled out their first two wins of the season, putting them at 2-10-1 overall (2-6-1 RMAC). Coming to Alamosa after a matchup against Fort Lewis College on Friday, they look to continue their winning ways. Freshman Missa Webb and senior Andrea Grillo lead the Mountaineers offense. Webb leads her team in goals with 3 and Grillo follows with 2 goals and 2 assists. Standing behind the Mountaineers is sophomore goalkeeper Kaeyla Noble. Noble has 96 saves this year with an average of 8 saves per game. Western has 110 saves in total this season with a .671 save percentage. The Mountaineers look to continue the 6-game winning streak they have against Adams State Women's soccer team that dates all the way back to 2014.

Heading into this weekend, Adams State Women's soccer team stands at 3-9 overall with a 1-8 conference record. The Grizzlies hope to improve their record by defending their turf in a competitive weekend of conference play.
