Grizzlies Hit the Road to Battle Two Conference Rivals

ALAMOSA, Colo. - Adams State Women's Basketball closes out their final road trip of the season only having three games left on the schedule. The Grizzlies will travel to Western Colorado and Colorado Mesa this weekend.

Tip-Off
• The Grizzlies come into the weekend with a 2-21 overall record and 2-17 in the RMAC. They enter this weekend's contests after going 0-2 last weekend.
• Adams State is 1-10 on the road this year. The team finished the 2018-19 season at home with a 1-11 record.
• Following the two contests on the road, the Grizzlies will go back on the read for their final game of the season as they take on Fort Lewis in Durango.

Adams State Breakdown

• Defensively, the Grizzlies are allowing opponents to score 67.6 points per contest. Opponents shoot an average of 43.8% overall against the Grizzlies and 34.3% from beyond the arc.
• Adams State still ranks in the top-three in the RMAC as a team in free throw percentage. As a unit, they shoot 75.6% and have made 238 shots from the line on 315 attempts.
• The Grizzlies average ranks second overall in the RMAC is in the top-50 in NCAA Division II this season.
• With an average of 11.4 points per game on 35.4% shooting, Stephanie Ruiz is the leading scorer for Adams State. She is the only player averaging double-digit points.
• Ki'asha Harris continues to bring down the most rebounds for the Grizzlies. She averages 5.2 boards per contest. Harris is also still the top free throw percentage shooter at 90%.
• Brooke Neal is second in rebounds and scoring. She averages 3.8 rebounds per game and is scoring 9.8 points per game.
• Marshell Hollins  leads the way for the offense in assists per game. Hollins is atop the list averaging 1.9 per game.
• Hollins and Neal are also the team leaders in steals. Hollins is averaging 1.3 while Neal averages 1.2 per game.  Hollins leads the way with 23 steals on the year.
• Lowendie Laporal stands alone as the team leader in blocks with 11 total on the season, averaging .5 per game.

Scouting Western Colorado
• The Mountaineers are 15-8 overall entering the weekend. They have an RMAC record of 11-8. They have gone 1-3 in their last 4 road games, most recently defeating Colorado Christian, 61-54.
• Offensively, WSU averages 61 points per game and shoots 41.1% from the floor. They average 35.6 shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
• Defensively, Western holds opponents to 55.8 points per game. Opponents shoot 37.9% overall against the Mountaineers and 32.3% from deep.
• Two players average double figure points with Samantha Coleman putting up 11.7 points per game and Datie Dalton adding 10.4 points per game
• Tammarrah Gothard leads the way as the top rebounder averaging 6.3 boards per game.
• Gothard has the highest assist average at 3.8 assists per game in 23 games played this season.
• Gothard also leads Western Colorado and is third in the RMAC in steals with 2.7 per game.

Scouting Colorado Mesa
• The Mavericks come into the weekend at 20-3. The team is tied for first place in the RMAC with Westminster College as both teams are 17-2 in the RMAC.
• Colorado Mesa is wrapping up a four-game road trip going 4-0 most recently defeating Regis University, 71-55.
• CMU enters this weekend ranked No. 22 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top-25 poll. They are No. 25 in the D2SIDA Media Poll.
• The Mavericks are the highest scoring team in the RMAC averaging 69.7 points per game. They shoot 41.3% from the field and average 31.4% from deep. From the free throw line, Mesa shoots 70.9%.
• On the defensive end, CMU gives up 51.5 points per game to the opposition on 35.7% shooting, both RMAC leading. Opponents shoot 28.9% against CMU from three-point range.
• Jaylyn Duran averages double figures with 19.3 points per game through 23 games played. She is the leading scorer in the RMAC entering the weekend and 27th in Division II.
• Sydni Brandon leads the way in rebounding averaging 6.8 rebounds per game.
• Brandon also leads the way in assists for CMU averaging 4.1 per game. He average ranks third in the RMAC. 
• Kelsey Siemons is the top shot blocker for the Mavericks with 33 blocked shots on the year. She leads the conference with an average of 1.4 swats per game.

• The Grizzlies have their last game of the season next weekend as they travel to Durango to take on the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks.
