Grizzlies Head to the Midwest for Three Games

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State Men's Lacrosse is back on the field as they get set for a three-game road trip to the Midwest this weekend and into next week.

Opening Faceoff
• Adams State will have one if its toughest road tests of the season with two of its three games against top-25 opponents.
• The Grizzlies will look to secure their first road win of the season as they are 0-1 to start the 2019 campaign.
• Adams State is coming off its first home loss of the season after falling to Salve Regina 14-12 in their home opener last weekend.
• The Grizzlies will return home for a single game following their three-game road stint.

• The Grizzlies fell 14-12 in their home opener last weekend after a slow start doomed the team from mounting a comeback.
• Multiple Grizzlies scored in the game led by Tanner Beck who notched five points on a pair of goals and three assists.

Austin at the Helm

Adams State Breakdown
• The Grizzlies are off to a solid start on offense as they have already scored 38 goals in three games this season.
• Adams State also has 20 assists on the season for a total of 58 points in three games played.
Tanner Beck leads the team in total points entering the weekend with 10 on four goals and a team-high six assists.
• Three Grizzlies are tied for second in points with seven in Johnny Rosas, Kyle Butler, and Jacob Austin. Both Rosas and Butler have five goals and two assist, while Austin has four goals and three assists.
Kale Wilson is the team leader in goals with six on the season. He also boasts a .619 shots on goal percentage for the Grizzlies to go along with eight groundball pickups.
• Beck leads the way in assists with six, while Austin is second with three. Both Beck and Wilson are tied for the lead in shots taken with 21, respectively.
• Helping out as two-way threats on offense and defense are Terry Trudgian, Brenna Grass, and Roman Pepelyaev. The trio led the team in groundball pickups with 11.
Kevin Chitwood has nine groundballs, while Wilson and Beck each have eight.
• Grass and Sawyer Robison lead the defensive unit with five caused turnovers each. Beck and Coltyn Kelly are not far behind with three apiece.
• Pepelyaev has the most faceoffs still as he is 25-54 on the year for a .463 percentage. Austin has been added to the mix and is 7-10 on the year for a faceoff percentage of .700.
Connor Johnson now has 19 saves on the season for the Grizzlies in three games played. He has faced 81 shots on the year and boasts a .422 save percentage.

Scouting Rockhurst
• The Hawks enter the weekend with a 5-2 overall record and are 2-0 in GLVC play. They are ranked No. 14 in the latest USILA top-25 rankings.
• Rockhurst is coming off a 23-4 road win at Shorter College back on March 13. They are winners in two of their last three games.
• The Hawks game against the Grizzlies will be their first home game of the 2019 season.
• As of March 11, Sam Lindahl leads the team in points with 32. He also has the most goals and assists with 19 and 13, respectively.
• Drake O'Neill is the second leading scorer with 26 points on 16 goals scored and 10 assists. Both his assists and goals are second best on the squad.
• Two players have 18 points on the year in Collin Fischer and Kai Trujillo. Fischer has 14 goals and four assists, while Trujillo has 13 goals and five assists.
• Two other players round out the double figure points for the Hawks in Grant VanOverbeke and Nick Schveninger. VanOverbeke has 14 points (8g, 6a), while Schveninger has 10 (7g, 3a).
• Zach Bodeau is the faceoff man for the Hawks as he is 70-94 on the year. Sal Valdivia is right behind him at 57-92 on faceoffs.
• Bodeau also has the most groundball pickups with 48 on the year. Valdivia is second with 33 entering the weekend.
• Connor Bateman has helped anchor the defense or Rockhurst with 15 caused turnovers. O'Neill and Blake Branscombe are tied for second with eight each, respectively.
• Alex Pfeil has seen the most action at goalkeeper starting six games. He leads the team in saves with 34 and is 4-2 on the year.
 
Scouting Lindenwood
• The Lions are 6-1 overall entering the weekend and ranked No. 10 in the latest set of the USILA Top-25 rankings.
• Lindenwood started the season winning is first five games before dropping a game. The team is 2-1 against top-25 ranked teams this season.
• Prior to playing the Grizzlies, the Lions will face another ranked opponent in No. 18 saint Leo on Saturday, March 16.
• Six players are already in double figure points this year with three already totaling 20-plus. Leonard Jones leads the way with 24 points on 12 goals and a team-high 12 assists.
• Sean Darroch and Carter Collins are tied for second in points with 22 apiece. Darroch has a team-high 20 goals and a pair of assists. Collins has 15 goals and seven assists.
• Colin Domek, Garrett Brusvold, and Grant Glazier round out the double-digit point players. Domek and Brusvoold each have 16, while Glazier has 15.
• Collins leads the team in groundball pickups with 54 this season. Michael Miocic is second with 28 going into the weekend.
• Miocic is 81-140 in faceoffs to lead the Lions. Bryan Bevelhimer is second in faceoffs for the Lions going 9-33 on the year.
• Collins also leads the team in caused turnovers with 14, while Danny Kowalski is second with 11.
• Two goalies have played five games each in net in Connor Ciemiewicz and Landon Schuster. Schuster (4-1) has 36 saves to lead the team, while Ciemiewicz (2-0) has 35.
 
Scouting Saint Mary
• The Spires are 2-4 overall entering the weekend. The team is coming off a 9-6 win over Aquinas College on March 13.
• Tyler French is the team's top-scorer with 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists. He leads the team in assists.
• Andy Meyers is the team leader in goals scored with 13 and his goal total puts him second in points as well. He has the most shots taken with 38 on the year.
• Meyers also leads the team in groundball pickups with 37, while Logan Lund is not far behind in second with 31 groundballs.
• Brandon Newman anchors the defense with 15 caused turnovers entering the weekend and also has 25 groundball pickups on the year for the Spires.
• Lund is the faceoff man for Saint Mary as he is 39-61 on the year for a .639 faceoff percentage.
• Zander Smith has started all six games for the Spires in net and notched 51 saves on the year. He has faces 207 shots and has a.436 save percentage.
