Grizzlies Host Acronauts This Weekend

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State Men's Lacrosse returns home to Alamosa this weekend following a three-game trip last week. The Grizzlies battle their final non-conference foe this weekend.

Opening Faceoff
• Adams State returns home following a three-game road trip that saw the team take on two ranked squads.
• The Grizzlies will look to secure their first home win of the 2019 season and third overall.
• Adams State went 1-2 in its three-game road trip with the lone win coming in the final game.
• The Grizzlies will once again hit the road for the next two games following their home matchup.

Last Time Out

• Adams State went 1-2 during three-game Spring Break road trip. The team battled two NCAA opponents and a NAIA foe in the trip.
• The Grizzlies first game was against No. 14 Rockhurst. The Hawks used a fast started to ultimately secure a 28-6 home win.
• Adams State then took on No. 14-ranked Lindenwood. It was a close in the first half, but a third quarter surge helped Lindenwood hold on for a 14-9 win.
• The Grizzlies ended the trip on a high note with a 12-4 win over Saint Mary. A 7-2 scoring surge in the fourth quarter helped the Grizzlies secure the road win.
 
Austin at the Helm
• Head Coach Jerome Austin enters the weekend with a 1-2 overall record at Adams State.
• The Grizzlies will look to win back-to-back games for the first time this season and under Coach Austin.
 
Adams State Breakdown
• The Grizzlies enter the weekend matchup with a 2-4 overall record following their road trip.
• Through six game splayed, the team has scored 65 goals and notched 36 assists for 101 points.
• Four players are in double figure points this year led by Tanner Beck with 14. He has scored six goals and leads the team in assists with eight.
Jacob Austin is second in points at 13 on seven goals scored and six assists. Both of his totals are tied for second on the team, respectively.
Kale Wilson is third in points with 12. He has scored a team-high 10 goals this season and has tallied a pair of assists. He leads the team in shots on goal with 18 and a .643 shots on goal percentage.
Johnny Rosas rounds out the double-digit point setup with 10 on seven goals and three assists.
Roman Pepelyaev leads the team in faceoffs and groundball pickups. He is 41-101 in faceoffs and has 21 groundballs on the year.
Brennan Grass has helped anchor the defense with eight caused turnovers. Right behind him with seven is Beck.
Terry Trudgian and Sawyer Robison have also helped on defense with six and five caused turnovers, respectively. Trudgian is also second in groundballs with 16.
• Austin, Brennan, Robison, and Kevin Chitwood are all tied for third in groundball pickups with 12 each.
• Goalkeeper Connor Johnson has 51 saves on the year to help lead the defense and boasts a .537 save percentage.
 
Scouting Notre Dame de Namur
• The Acronauts are just 1-7 entering the weekend game and have dropped each of their last three games.
• When NDNU and Adams State played each other last season, Adams State held on for a 12-10 win.
• Five players have already tallied double figure points for the Acronauts led by Bennett Duffy with 44.
• Duffy has racked up his 44 points on 20 goals scored and 24 assists. Both numbers lead the team.
• Jacob McFarland is second in points with 24. He has scored 17 goals this season to go along with seven assists.
• Ethan Gilbert is third with 22 points. He has scored 16 goals for NDNU and tallied six assists.
• Ryan Elston ad AJ Caturay round out the double-digit points with 11 and 10, respectively. Both players have scored four goals, while Elston has seven assists to Caturay's six assists.
• Duffy is the top faceoff man for NDNU as he 62-137 this season. He also leads the teams in groundballs with 36.
• Asher Minich has also provided help in groundball cleanups with 29 to sit second. Caturay is third with 27 groundballs.
• Minich is an anchor on defense with a team-high 12 caused turnovers for the Acronauts.
• Alex Ellifritz and Andrew Barerra have also helped on defense with nine caused turnovers each.
• In net, Garret Netter has started all eight games for NDNU. He has notched 101 saves in 448 shots faced.
