Box Score GLENDALE, Ariz. – Adams State Baseball falls to Arizona Christian 12-1 in Friday's match up. The Grizzlies now fall back to 1-6 in their early preseason.
The Grizzlies started off on a good note, scoring one in the first inning. With two outs
Nico Nintze singled up the middle and was brought in by
Cedrick Reynaud's double to left field. Arizona Christian responded quickly in the bottom half of the inning. The Firestorm led off the inning getting hit by a pitch and was advanced to second on a single to centerfield. After another single up the middle, the Firestorm scored their first run. On a wild pitch by the Grizzlies, Arizona Christian earned their second run.
Leading the Grizzlies 2-1, Arizona Christian tacked on four more runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning, two of which were homeruns. Grizzlies early season jitters resulted in errors in with field. The Firestorm scored one run in the bottom of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to extend their lead 9-1. With infield stuggles, Arizona Christian added two more runs to the scoreboard in the seventh, and one more in the eighth. The Firestorm finished the Grizzlies off 12-1.
With tough pitching from Arizona Christian, the Grizzlies scored one run on three hits. Reynaud led the Grizzlies again today going 1-3 with 1 RBI. Other contributing Grizzlies were Nintze going 1-4, and
Kolton Bleggi going 1-3. Taking the loss for the Grizzlies on the mound is
Alfredo Villa, who made it through 5 innings and faced 31 batters, with 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Grizzlies were Lucas Buffmack, completing two innings, and
Montana Gomez completing one, with three strikeouts.
The Grizzlies will take the field in Arizona again tomorrow to face off with Midland University.
