Alamosa, CO. – The Adams State Men's Lacrosse team will defend their home turf for the first time this season against Otterbein University for a Monday afternoon matchup at 3pm.
The Grizzlies kicked off their 2020 campaign last weekend against Colorado Mesa and Westminster. It was a tough start to their season facing off against some of the hardest competitors they'll have this season, but they put on some highlights to showcase what the rest of the season will hold.
Johnny Rosas proved why he's such a dangerous attackman yet again this year, tallying two goals in both the losses last weekend. Also pulling through was
Jacob Austin, as expected to contribute based off his performance last season, tallying 3 goals, 1 assist, and a few ground balls to help his team battle against Mesa and Westminster. Having quite the breakout against the Sunday game against the Griffins was freshman
Tim Crouse, scoring a hattrick against the number one ranked team in the RMAC conference.
On the defensive side,
Terry Trudgian caused a combined amount of 3 caused turnovers, collected 7 groundballs, and scored his first goal of the season and his second of his collegiate career. Standing tall in the cage was
Brendan Williams for a majority of the minutes in the games, collecting a combined 33 saves.
Scouting Otterbein University
The Cardinals currently sit at an overall record of 2-1, their last game resulting in a loss against Wooster. Leading Otterbein's offense is junior attackman Xander Seal, accounting for 5 goals and 6 assists thus far this season. Helping Seal is Mike Brendle and Ben Lewis, both having tallied 4 goals and a few assists each. Although these three upperclassmen currently hold the highest amount of goals on the season, the Cardinals offense is relatively well-balanced with quite a few players having goals under their belt.
Leading the Cardinals defense thus far has been Justin McKee and Jordan Tobler. McKee and Tobler lead their team in caused turnovers as well as groundballs. The two stand in front of a goalie tandem that the Cardinals choose to play with. The two goalies, Bryce Perram and Zach Groene have combined for a total of 49 saves, more than their past three opponents.
The Grizzlies will look to improve their record to 1-2, hoping to repeat the solid win they earned against Otterbein in their 2018 season a few years ago. Looking to impress the home crowd, the same Grizzlies that were so strong in the kick-off of their season will look to continue to contribute and to guide their team to a home-opener win.
