ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies will close out the 2021 portion of the season with three straight road games. The action for the Grizzlies is set to start on Tuesday when the Grizzlies travel to Pueblo to take on the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves. They will then hit the road for an afternoon affair with South Dakota Mines on Saturday (Dec. 11) before a one-game road trip to Colorado Mesa next Friday.
The Grizzlies have started the season 1-1, with a win against New Mexico Highlands 80-43 and a loss against the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs by 60-71.
CSU Pueblo ranked at No. 24 in last week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll, is heading into the game against the Grizzlies 2-0 in conference games and 6-1 overall.
JaNaiya Davis had a historic night in CSU Pueblo's 68-55 win over New Mexico Highlands on Saturday as she reached 1,000 career points. She averages 10.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and is 95 percent from the free-throw line. Davis and Ro Dominguez are the leading scorers for the ThunderWolves, as Alisha Davis has been out for the past four games. Dominguez averages 10.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and is 35 percent from the three-point line. However, the Grizzlies must slow down the fast-paced ThunderWolves to end the game on top.
After the ThunderWolves, the Grizzlies have a three-day break and then head up to South Dakota to play South Dakota Mines on Saturday, Dec. 11. The Hardrockers are winless entering the weekend games against the Grizzlies. They are 0-2 in conference play and 0-8 overall.
Makenna Bodette is the leading scorer for the Hardrockers; she is averaging 11.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and is 61 percent from the free-throw line. Trailing her is Piper Bauer, with an average of 11.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and is 41 percent from the three-point line.
Up next, the Grizzlies will have another road game in Grand Junction. This will be their last game before the mandatory Christmas break. After that, the Grizzlies are set to play Colorado Mesa on Friday, Dec. 17, at 5:30 p.m.
