GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University Athletic Department Officials have announced that Mavericks have been selected to as a replacement host for the upcoming NCAA Division II Super Region VI Wrestling Championships, which will be contested on Sunday, Feb. 28, starting at 11 a.m. in Brownson Arena.
The regional was originally scheduled to be hosted by Adams State University in Alamosa, but has been moved due to COVID-related protocols and facility limitations.
The status of fans being able to attend under COVID-19 related protocols is yet to be determined.
CMU last hosted the regional in 2014.
The regional will qualify individual wrestlers for the NCAA Division II Championships, which have been moved to St. Louis, Missouri and the America's Center Convention Complex. That tournament will be contested on Mar. 12 and 13.
