Continuing on the Road
The Grizzlies look to continue their road game series against Westminster College. Westminster is currently 7-3, meanwhile, ASU is 2-5. ASU is still looking to snag their first road game of this season. They are currently 0-3 when playing away.
The Grizzlies are coming off of a road game loss to Regis University, 46-75. Westminster is also coming off of a lose against South Dakota Mines, 71-74.
Finally returning to play since the MSU Denver game is
Kaela McClure. McClure's on the court leadership was greatly missed this past weekend.
Haley Eaves will still be missing from the lineup. Grizzly fans are anticipating her return against Fort Lewis on February 19th.
In her opening collegiate games,
Celina Watson averaged 4.5 points, 2 steals, 1.5 rebounds, and 17 minutes. The 5-foot-7 freshman guard was a key factor in the history-making win against Black Hills State.
Bouncing back from the 29-point loss against Regis will be the biggest motivator for the Grizzlies this weekend. They will play Regis again on Saturday, February 27th, which is also Senior Night inside Plachy Hall.
The Grizzlies will really have to come together as they will be playing their first back-to-back game of this season. They will have the help of
Kayla Harris, who was recently named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week after her standout performance against Black Hills State. Harris is the first Grizzly women's basketball player to win a weekly RMAC accolade in nearly a decade as ASU Hall of Famer Vera Jo Bustos was the last to win an award on February, 28, 2011.
ASU looks to shut down Mesa's veteran team.
Kayla Harris is a 5-foot-10, junior guard/forward who made an immediate impact after her transfer to ASU at semester. She is originally from Las Vegas,
Nevada, but transferred from Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona. Harris averages 9.25 points and 2.25 steals per game. If the Grizzlies follow Harris' defensive lead, they could pull out a great victory against Mesa.
About Westminster College
Westminster College is on a one-game losing streak and looking to change that this Friday. They are currently 2-1 at home and 5-2 on the road. In their close lost against South Dakota Mines, Hunter Krebs scored 24 points and was 50 percent from the three-point line. She is the Griffin's starting senior forward who averaged 5.8 rebounds and 15.6 points a game. Krebs and their other senior starter, Sarah McGinley, lead the team in scoring. For the Grizzlies to come out with a win, they will have to contain McGinley and Krebs.
