Return to Play
The Grizzlies look to finally come out of quarantine and play their second game of this semester against Black Hills State. Black Hills State has played all but one scheduled game so this will be their 14th conference game, meanwhile, this will be the Grizzlies' sixth.
The Grizzlies' last game was an unfortunate loss to MSU Denver with an ending score of 68-75. Black Hill State will be coming off of a great win against Colorado Christian University, 74-46.
ASU will be without two key scorers,
Kaela McClure and
Haley Eaves. McClure is a junior college transfer who was unable to play last year due to an ACL injury. She averages 27 minutes per game so the Grizzlies will have to rely on the legs of the rest of the team to fill her spot. Eaves has only played in two games this semester due to transferring to ASU from Northern New Mexico College in December. In her last game, Eaves was 3-6 from the 3pt line. Her sharpshooting will be missed.
A new face to the Grizzly fans will finally be eligible for her first appearance in collegiate basketball.
Celina Watson, a high school senior who graduated this December, will officially be able to play. Watson averaged 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game at Piedra Vista High School in New Mexico. The name Watson should also sound familiar because her sister,
Elaina Watson, also plays for the Grizzlies. Elaina averages 5.5 points per game and has started 5-5 games.
About Black Hills State
Black Hills State is looking to continue its three-game winning streak. They are 3-3 on away games so traveling from South Dakota to Alamosa will be a true test of their game on the road. Furthermore, the RMAC just announced that Black Hill State's sophomore guard Megan Engesser is the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week. She recently had her career-high of 25 points, including six 3-pointers and a record seven rebounds against Chadron State College.
Series History vs. Black Hills State
The Grizzlies and Black Hills State have only met eight times in their history. Black Hills State has won all eight times in their history. The first time these two teams have met was on January 4th, 2013 in Spearfish, South Dakota.
The Grizzlies are 0-5 in South Dakota and 0-3 in Alamosa.
Last season, the Grizzlies fell to Black Hills State 51-85.

Long Weekend
The Grizzlies look to play their second game in four days against Regis University. Last year the Grizzlies snuck a win against Regis at home, but ultimately lost when it was Regis' turn to host.
Regis is not as good playing on the road based on their record, Grizzlies will try to use this to the best of their advantage. Both teams will be coming off games over the weekend, so legs might be a huge factor. Regis is scheduled to play Colorado Christian on Friday and MSU Denver on Saturday.
The Grizzlies will look to end the long weekend with a win with the help of their three posts,
Kassie Schell,
Kaitlyn Bell, and
Kayla Harris. All three are in their junior season, however, Schell is the true veteran. She has played on the team for the past three years, beginning in Coach Jamie Green's first season here at ASU. This is Harris and Bell's first year at ASU as they both were transfer students. Bell transferred from Idaho State University, a division one in Pocatello, Idaho and Harris transferred this winter, from Cochise College.
About Regis University
Regis has recruited four key freshmen who look to make an impact in their first collegiate season. This will be Kate Murphy, Olivia Pitrof, Madison Diercks, and Erin Fry's first matchup against the Grizzlies. Someone who is not new to playing the Grizzlies is senior forward, Whitney Jacob. She is 5'11 but can score from anywhere on the court. She is a 3- year letter winner and was named 2019-20 All-RMAC First Team, 2019-20 RMAC All-Academic First Team, RMAC Offensive Player of the Week (2/17/20), and RMAC Defensive Player of the Week (1/6/20). She averages a double-double, with 16.3 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Series History
The Grizzlies and Regis have met several times in the past. The Grizzlies are overall 5-28 against Regis. In the last meeting between the teams, Regis won 72-46 on February 7th, 2020.
Up Next
The Grizzlies will continue to be on the road as they play Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m. at Behnken Field House. Then, on Saturday, February 13th, the Grizzlies travel to Grand Junction to play Colorado Mesa University.
