ALLENDALE, Mich.—The 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships opened on Thursday at the Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium and the Adams State University Grizzlies earned one All-America honor and advanced to runners two Saturday's finals.
The first event the Grizzlies competed in was the 1,500-meter preliminaries. The Grizzlies ran smart races as two of the three runners in the race advanced to Saturday's finals. The race on Saturday will be at 3:25 p.m.
With all three Grizzlies battling in the second heat, sophomore
Stephanie Cotter finished in second with a time of 4:26.66, the seventh fastest mark of the day. Senior Emma Wren finished fifth in the heat to post the 10th fastest mark of 4:27.74.
Sophomore
Nicole Lawrence finished in eighth in the heat with a time of 4:46.28
In the lone final event of the day, freshman
Brianna Robles clawed her way for an All-America honor as she finished in fifth place. She finished her 25-lap race in 34:13.24.
Senior
Kaylee Bogina battled for an All-America honor but fell just short as she finished in ninth place with a time of 34:20.37.
Adams State ends the day tied for 17th with CSU Pueblo as the two RMAC schools have four points.
Adams State will have five runners running in three events tomorrow starting 12:45 p.m.
