GUNNISON, Colo.—Emotions that typically arise in the rivalry game that is Adams State and Western Colorado were put on display on Friday night inside Paul Wright Gymnasium, however, the Grizzlies dominated the game took a 81-74 win.
Adams State opened the game shooting 46.7 percent from the field in the first half to take a 38-26 kead at the break.
The second half saw a flagrant foul on the Grizzlies and a technical foul on Mountaineer Head Coach Brad Schafer was intense from the beginning. The Grizzlies led by as many as 17 points, 68-51, with 7:58 left. The lead, however, would not stay as the Mountaineers went on an 16-3 run, to pull within two points, 69-67 with just over four minutes remaining.
That's when
Malik Moore put the Grizzlies on his back and scored five straight to help the pull away and get the win.
Adams State had four players in double figures as
Tyrin Hollis scored 20,
Kaelin Crane scored 19,
Jordan Notch scored 18 and
Malik Moore scored ten.
The Grizzlies will be back in action tomorrow when they tracel mto Durango to take Fort Lewis at 7:00 p.m.
