FB | Fryday, Hampton named honorable mention All-American

BROOKFIELD, Ill. — The Don Hansen Football Committee has released the 2021 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team and the Grizzlies have two players named on the honorable mention list, tight end Ian Fryday and defensive back Bryce Hampton.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.

Fryday made 38 catches this season for 487 yards and three touchdowns. He had a long of 75 yards.

Hampton was an all-around player that played both offense and defense. He tied for No. 2 in NCAA Division II with seven interceptions and one pick-six. He was third on the team in all-purpose yards as he had 666 yards. He had 114 rushing yards, 383 receiving yards, 114 on punt returns and 55 yards on interception returns.
