COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Adams State University men's basketball team was slated to finish in 12th place according to the 2022 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released by conference officials on Thursday morning.
The Grizzlies, who finished in 11th place in the RMAC standings a season ago, failed to reach the postseason tournament after they finished with an 8-14 conference record and a 12-16 overall record.
Black Hills State University, who made a deep run into the NCAA Division II Tournament a year ago, was picked to win the championship with 196 points as they garnered 14 of the 15 first-place votes. Colorado Mesa was picked to finish second while Colorado School of Mines rounded out the top three and earned the final first-place vote. Adams State was picked to finish 12th with 55 points. Colorado Christian, Chadron State and Western Colorado round out the final three spots in the poll.
The Grizzlies, who have four returners and 12 newcomers including four freshman and eight transfers, will open their season on officially on Friday, Nov. 11 when they travel to Silver City, N.M. to take on Texas Permian Basin for a 6:00 p.m. match up.
