ALAMOSA, Colo.—For the first time in the NCAA Division II-era (1992-Present), according to information found by ASU Sports Information staff, the Adams State University women's basketball team won their fourth straight game to open the season on Saturday night when they downed Northern New Mexico College, 103-39, inside Plachy Hall.
The Grizzlies opened the game by outscoring the Eagles 17-10 by connecting on five shots including two three-pointers. The second quarter was all Grizzlies as they outscored them 25-6, by going 11-of-18 (61.1 percent) from the field. They led 42-16 at the half.
In the second half, Adams State scored 61 points as they hit 14 field goals in the third for 31 points compared to the Eagles' 11 points. They led 71-27 going into the final quarter. The Grizzlies finished the game with 30 points.
In the game the Grizzlies went 40-of-74 (54.1 percent) from the field including 10-of-24 (41.7 percent) from beyond the arch.
Harmanie Dominguez led the Grizzlies with 20 points. In all, 12 players scored in the contest as the reserves played most of the third and fourth quarters amounting to 62 bench points.
The Grizzlies will have a busy Thanksgiving break as they head to Texas for games on Tuesday and Wednesday.
