CHADRON, Neb.--The Adams State University men's basketball team saw the Chadron State Eagles overcome a second half hole before getting the lead with seven seconds and surviving two Eagle shots in the final three ticks for a 58-57 win on Saturday night.
In the first half the Grizzlies we're playing a very intense and physical game from tip off. Both teams were showing a very defense heavy game as the score was still 4-4 the first five minutes. There have been nine lead changes within the first half. Both teams struggled from the three point line as both teams have only hit one. Leading the Grizzlies in scoring we have
Rylan O'Brien with 7 points. Chardon's leading scorer is Porter Anderson with 8 points. The score to end the half is tied 24-24.Â
The Eagles made the first basket to start the second half.
Rylan O'Brien has made his second three to put the grizzlies up 33-30 with 14 minutes left of the second half.
Malik Moore was being very physical for the Grizzlies down low as he has 9 rebounds. The Eagles have been cold from the 3 point line, but KJ Harris hit a big three to get the Eagles within three with the Grizzlies 50-53 with 2 minutes left of the game.Â
It was a close game from start to finish with 30 seconds left of the game the Eagles called a time out as they had the ball down by three. Porter Anderson scored a huge bucket as they get within one point with 28.6 seconds left of the game. Mason Hiemstra puts the Eagles backup 58-57 with 11.7 seconds left on the clock. There had been three lead changes within the last minute.
Kaelin Crane hit both big free throws to put the Grizzlies backup 58-59 with 7.3 seconds left on the clock.Â
The Grizzlies amazing defense stopped the Eagles from scoring, ending in a final score 58-57.Â
The Grizzlies will be back at home as they play Mesa University Friday, February 12th at 7:30 p.m. They will remain at home to play Westminster Saturday, February 13th at 7:30 p.m
