WWRES | Grizzlies win first ever dual, split Sunday tri

CHADRON, Neb. – The Adams State women's wrestling team emerged from Sunday's team able to celebrate their first win of the season on Sunday they split a pair of duals.
 
Adams State 20, Minot State 16
The Grizzlies won their first dual of the year as they defeated the Minot State Beavers narrowly in the first dual of the day. In the dual the Grizzlies won four of six matches won as the two teams traded forfeits at at 155 and 170 pounds.
 
Earning wins for the Grizzlies were Julianna Candeleria at 109 pounds, Austria Holland, who earned a 10-0 Tech Fall in 2:21 at 116 pounds before Bella Devoto won at 123 pounds. Trinity Perez won at 136 pounds.
 
Chadron State 41, Adams State 8
The second dual was a little more unfriendly as the Grizzlies surrendered three matches, 15 points on forfeits, while winning one of just six matches contested. The line winner was Austria Holland who had a fall over Cassandra Witts at 116 pounds.
 
This dual counted for RMAC standings so the Grizzlies are now officially 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the RMAC.
 
Up Next
The Grizzlies will return to action next weekend when they travel to Las Vegas, Nev. for the Desert Duals, that will include a dual against Simon Frasier (B.C.) in an RMAC Dual.
