COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The preseason coaches poll for men's and women's swimming was released Thursday afternoon, as announced by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Adams State men's swim was picked to finish sixth in the conference, while women's swimming was selected to finish ninth.
Although the swimming regular season began on Sept. 29, the lead-up to the 2024 RMAC Swimming & Diving Championships starts in January, with the majority of the league's teams competing over three consecutive weekends between Jan. 10-26. The 2024 RMAC Championships are scheduled for Feb. 11-15, with Colorado Mesa hosting in Grand Junction.
Head Coach Melinda Hunzeker expressed her satisfaction with the season's progress, stating, "The Grizzlies are looking forward to this season, with some new talent coming in from the freshman class that should enable them to set some new team records and continue to build the program to higher standards."
On the men's side, Colorado Mesa garnered all five possible first-place votes and the maximum 25 points. Colorado School of Mines received the remaining first-place vote and 18 points, tying for second place with Oklahoma Christian.
Adams State's men earned 6 points and were projected to finish last in the RMAC.
On the women's side, Colorado Mesa was the top pick, securing seven first-place votes and 63 points. Simon Fraser received the remaining two first-place votes and 54 points. Colorado School of Mines placed third with 52 points.
