Grand Junction, Colo. -- Two Adams State swimmers reached the finals on Day 3 of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Colorado Mesa.
Emily Markle and Jocelyn Jones led the way for the Grizzlies, securing spots in Thursday night's finals. Markle delivered an impressive performance in the 400 Individual Medley, shaving two seconds off her preliminary time to finish 19th with a time of 4:52.06. Jones earned a spot in the 100 Butterfly finals, finishing 24th in 1:01.78.
In the preliminary heats, Anjali Friedman also competed in the 100 Butterfly, touching in at 1:03.53. On the men's side, Devin Walters and Dillon Brown swam the 100 Butterfly, posting times of 53.50 and 53.78, respectively.
Jones also competed in the 200 Freestyle prelims, clocking in at 1:59.69. Teammates Kennedy Larson (2:12.32) and Jenna Lang (2:16.62) followed. In the men's 200 Free, Brayden Stalcup (1:47.25) and George Lutkenhaus (1:49.47) represented the Grizzlies.
Adams State also competed in the 400 Medley Relay. The women's team—featuring Danielle Aquino, Brianna Uhrig, Markle, and Brenna Otteman—secured ninth place with a time of 4:20.15. The men's squad of Ben Brewer, Mohamed Abujiba, Walters, and Brown impressed with a sixth-place finish, clocking in at 3:31.43.
Through 10 sessions, the Grizzlies sit in ninth place on the women's side with 85 points and sixth place on the men's side with 80 points. Competition continues tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. as Adams State looks to build on its momentum.
