Grand Junction, Colo. — The Adams State Grizzlies qualified three individual swimmers and two relay teams for Thursday's finals at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.
On the women's side, Jocelyn Jones was the lone Grizzly to qualify for a final, earning a spot in the 100-yard butterfly. Jones clocked a 1:01.60 in prelims to advance to the C final, then improved her time to 1:01.01 to finish 23rd overall. As a team, the women have totaled 51 points through Thursday's events.
On the men's side, Devin Walters posted a 50.63 in the 100-yard butterfly prelims to qualify for the B final. He placed 14th overall with a time of 50.69.
Kenny Rupp also advanced to the finals in the 200-yard freestyle. He qualified with a prelim time of 1:40.91 and finished 11th overall after touching the wall in 1:41.01.
The men's 400-yard medley relay team of Walters, Victor Lebsock, Quintin Cummings and Rupp placed sixth with a time of 3:28.40. The 400-yard medley relay B team — Ben Brewer, Quenten Madrid, Dillon Brown and Michael Eckley — finished 14th in 3:43.46. The men have accumulated 98.5 team points heading into Friday.
The Grizzlies will continue competition Friday morning.
