Alamosa, Colo. – Dr. Jeff Geiser and his wife, Nancy, presented the 2024 Brody Geiser Memorial Scholarship on Friday to linebacker Seth Moss and tight end Damian Orozco. This is the second year these recipients have been awarded the scholarship.
"My wife Nancy and I are proud to support Adams State football by providing financial assistance in honor of our late son, Brody," said Jeff Geiser. Brody tragically passed away in November 2020 at age 34. Jeff and Nancy established a memorial scholarship to support a student-athlete from the San Luis Valley. After graduating high school, Brody spent four years in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Essex and stationed in Sasebo, Japan, as a CTR Cryptologic Technician.
He earned several medals during his time in the Navy, including the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in April 2008.
After a stellar career as a linebacker at the University of Colorado, Jeff Geiser served as head football coach at Adams State for 13 seasons (1984-1996), taking his team to back-to-back playoff berths. He earned his doctorate during his coaching tenure at Adams State and subsequently served as the department chair of Exercise Physiology and Leisure Science and as Adams State's athletic director before becoming the athletic director at Eastern New Mexico University. He was enshrined in the Adams State University Athletics Hall of Fame and is a member of the Hall of Fame selection committee.
"I would like to thank Jeff Geiser and the Geiser family for their continued support of Adams State football. Damian and Seth are two great young men who embody everything this scholarship stands for, on and off the field and in the community. These two young men will continue to do great things at Adams State and carry on the tradition of this great scholarship," said head coach Jarrell Harrison.
