WBB | Grizzlies Poised for Second NCAA Appearance

DENTON, Texas - The Adams State women's basketball team is primed for the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament, securing the No. 5 seed in the South Central Regional Tournament, hosted by top-seeded Texas Woman's University.

The Grizzlies secured their ninth RMAC Tournament berth in program history by clinching the Co-RMAC Regular Season Championship. Following a four-way tie with Colorado Mesa, UC-Colorado Springs, and Regis, each boasting an 18-4 record, tiebreaker procedures and RMAC Performance Indicator averages determined the Grizzlies' No. 3 seed.

On Tuesday night, Adams State extended their winning streak to ten games with a resounding 83-63 victory over sixth-seeded Black Hills State inside Plachy Hall, securing their spot in the RMAC semifinals for the second consecutive year. Adams State's defense was dominant, amassing 15 steals, with Angelline Nageak contributing four, resulting in 22 forced turnovers. Riri Davis matched her career-high with 21 points, while Nageak led the scoring charge with 23 points.

However, in the semifinal on Friday, the Grizzlies struggled as they shot 1-of-21 from beyond the arc, falling 67-47.

UTPB in the LSC
Tourney In the quarterfinals, the Falcons avenged a previous loss by defeating Angelo State 71-51. They followed up with a narrow 70-68 victory in the semifinals over No. 2 UT Tyler. In the Championship game, the Falcons faced top-seeded Texas Woman's, ultimately falling 60-70.

History Between Adams State and UTPB
This marks the first postseason meeting between these two teams.

RMAC Tournament Shootout History
This is only the second time in program history that the Grizzlies have earned a berth into the tournament. In 2011, they finished 23-10, going 2-1 in the tournament, including wins against No. 5 ranked Fort Lewis and Northern State, before falling to No. 10 ranked MSU Denver in the regional final.

Harmanie Making Program History
Dominguez, already a first-team All-RMAC player, made history by becoming the Grizzlies' first All-Academic First Team member. Holding a 3.75 GPA in Kinesiology, the sophomore has shattered records this season, including single-game records for three-pointers (10) and points (37), along with establishing a new single-season record for the Grizzlies with 97 three-pointers. She joins a select group as only the second player in Adams State's DII history (1992-present) to surpass 500 points, currently ranking second on the all-time list with 528 points, just 49 points shy of the record.

All-Conference Honors
Joining Dominguez on the All-RMAC squad, sophomore Kiiyani Anitielu was named to the second team, while Riri Davis and Angelline Nageak received honorable mentions.

Next Up
The regional semifinals are set to tip off on Saturday, March 16. Should the Grizzlies advance, they will play the winner of top-seeded Texas Woman's and #8 Colo. Sch. of Mines, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. (CT) / 6:30 p.m. (MT).
