WBB | (3) Adams State Gears Up for Semifinal Rematch against (2) Regis

DENVER, Colo. – The Adams State women's basketball team is poised to embark on just their third-ever appearance in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament semifinals on Friday night. The No. 3 seeded Grizzlies are set to return to the Regis Fieldhouse for the second consecutive year, where they will face off in a highly-anticipated rematch against the No. 2 seeded and hosting Regis Rangers.

Securing a Spot in the Tournament
The Grizzlies clinched their berth in the RMAC Tournament for the ninth time in program history after being crowned Co-RMAC Regular Season Champions. Following a four-way tie with Colorado Mesa, UC-Colorado Springs, and Regis, each boasting an 18-4 record, tiebreaker procedures and comparisons of RMAC Performance Indicator averages among the top four teams determined the Grizzlies' No. 3 seed.

First round jab
On Tuesday night, Adams State extended their winning streak to ten games with a decisive 83-63 victory over the sixth-seeded Black Hills State inside Plachy Hall, securing their spot in the RMAC semifinals for the second consecutive year. Adams State's defensive was on full display, amassing 15 steals, with Angelline Nageak contributing four, resulting in 22 turnovers forced. Riri Davis matched her career-high with 21 points, a feat she had achieved twice earlier in the season, while  Nageak led the scoring charge with 23 points.

Change of Venue
The tournament's venue has been relocated to Denver following a stunning upset in Grand Junction, where the No. 8 seeded CSU Pueblo overcame the No. 1 seeded Colorado Mesa with a score of 66-57. In another quarterfinal matchup, the No. 4 seeded UC-Colorado Springs secured a 71-65 victory over the fifth-seeded Colorado School of Mines. The Mountain Lions and ThunderWolves will square off in the other semifinal showdown at 7:00 p.m.

The South-Central Region consists of 15 teams from the RMAC and 16 teams from the Lone Star Conference. The final 64-team bracket will be announced on the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 10 at 8:30 p.m. (MT) on www.ncaa.com.
