Colorado Springs, Colo. – Adams State Swimming raced at the Colorado College Classic in Colorado Springs this weekend for their first meet back from break. The men's team took third place with 463.9 points while the women got fourth with 415.2.

On the women's side, Emily Markle set the tone for the Grizzlies scoring a total of 59 points individually, along with being part of two of the relay races the Grizzlies placed in, collecting another 56 points. The highlight of her meet was the 200-yard Breast where she finished third, taking the bronze, with a time of 2:33.92.

On the men's side, Mohamed Abujiba was a key performer for the Grizzlies scoring the second most points of the meet behind Sam Allen of Colorado College. Abujiba took gold in the 200 breast finals and swam an altitude adjusted season best of 2:16.34. He also took silver in the 100 breast finals, after taking first place with a time of 1:00.7 during prelims, Abujiba came back in finals and swam a time of 59.45 altitude adjusted to take second place. 

Women's Events

• 200-yard IM: Emily Markle finished fifth, with a time of 2:22.74, collecting 14 points for Adams
• 200-yard Breast: Emily Markle finished third taking the bronze, with a time of 2:33.92, collecting 16 points for Adams
• 200-yard Medley Relay: Adams State's A team, consisting of Ryley Martinez, Emily Markle, Jocelyn Jones, and Brenna Otteman, finished with a time of 1:56.33 finishing fifth in the relay, collecting 28 points for Adams
• 400-yard IM: Emily Markle finished fifth, with a time of 5:09.38, collecting 14 points for Adams
• 100-yard Breast: Emily Markle finished fourth, with a time 1:11.60, collecting 15 points for Adams
• 400-yard Free Relay: Adams State's A team, consisting of Brenna Otteman, Danielle Aquino, Emily Markle, and Jocelyn Jones, finished with a time of 4:06.09 finishing sixth in the relay, collecting 28 points for Adams
• 50-yard Free: Jocelyn Jones and Ryley Martinez finished seventh and eighth respectively, with times of 26.36 and 26.89, collecting 23 total points for Adams

Men's Events

• 100-yard Free: Landon Brewer had a great race, collecting silver, with a time of 48.26. Brayden Stalcup also finished fourth, with a time of 49.86, collecting 17 points for Adams
• 200-yard Back: Devin Walters finished third taking the bronze, with a time of 2:06.96, collecting 16 points for Adams
• 200-yard Breast: Mohamed Abujiba had a great race, taking the gold, finishing with a time of 2:17.54 and scoring Adams 20 points
• 500-yard Free: Brayden Stalcup finished fourth, finishing with a time of 5:14.26, scoring 15 points for Adams
• 400-yard Medley Relay: Adams State's A team, consisting of Ben Brewer, Mohamed Abujiba, Devin Walters, and Brayden Stalcup, finished with a time of 3:43.77 taking fourth place in the relay, and collecting 30 points for Adams
• 200-yard Free Relay: Adams State's A team, consisting of Landon Brewer, George Lutkenhaus, Mohamed Abujiba, and Brayden Stalcup, finished with a time of 1:29.22 taking fourth place in the relay, and collecting 30 points for Adams
• 200-yard Medley Relay: Adams State's A team, consisting of Ben Brewer, Mohamed Abujiba, Dillon Brown, and Brayden Stalcup, finished with a time of 1:39.06 taking fourth place in the relay, and collecting 30 points for Adams
• 200-yard Free: George Lutkenhaus and Brayden Stalcup finished fifth and sixth respectively, finishing with times of 1:50.59 and 1:50.73, collecting a total of 27 points for Adams
• 100-yard Breast: Mohamed Abujiba collected silver, finishing with a time of 59.55, giving Adams 17 points
