SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Following the completion of Day 3 of the Trinity Invite, the Grizzlies Women's team finishes in fifth-place while the Men's team finishes in fourth-place. The Women's team finished the 3-day event with a total of 190 points, and the Men's team finished with a total of 271 points to give them their respective placings.
Women's Events
400 Yard Freestyle Relay - The Adams State A Relay team collected a sixth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The relay team was composed of Sophomore Ryler Martinez, Sophomore Brenna Otteman, Freshman Ashlyn Popham, and Senior Jocelyn Jones. The four women finished the event with a final time of 3:42.76 to collect their sixth-place finish.
200 Yard Backstroke - In the 200-yard backstroke, Clare Bonham finished in tenth place with a final time of 2:16.85. Her time in the finals was an improvement on her prelim time, which allowed her to collect a top 10 finish in the event.
100 Yard Freestyle - Senior Jocelyn Jones collected a top 10 finish for the Grizzlies in the 100-yard freestyle with a ninth-place finish. Jones finished the event with a final time of 54.18, which was a full second faster than her prelim time to give her the ninth-place finish. Also placing in the event was Ashlyn Popham, who finished in twelfth place with a final time of 55.37.
1650 Yard Freestyle - In the 1650-yard freestyle, the Grizzlies collected two top 10 finishes with Ryley Martinez finishing in ninth and Kennedy Larson finishing in tenth place. Martinez finished with a final time of 19:28.76 to finish ninth, and Larson finished with a final time of 19:33.96 to collect tenth place for the Grizzlies.
Men's Events
200 Yard Backstroke - In the 200-yard backstroke, the Grizzlies were able to secure both a third-place and fourth-place finish. Finishing in third-place was Junior Kenny Rupp, who finished with a final time of 1:53.76. In fourth place was Devin Walters. Walters finished the event just behind Rupp with a final time of 1:54.04. Also placing in the event was Ben Brewer, who collected ninth place with a final time of 1:55 to collect a top 10 finish for the Grizzlies.
1650 Yard Freestyle - In the 1650-yard freestyle, the Grizzlies collected a seventh-place in the event with Finn McFarland finishing the event with a final time of 17:03.38.
400 Yard Freestyle Relay - In the 400-yard freestyle relay event, the Grizzlies collected a top 10 finish with the Adams State Relay A team finishing in tenth place in the event. The relay team of Quintin Cummings, Jess Baker, Dillon Brown, and Kenny Rupp collected their tenth-place finish with a final time of 3:12.17.
Looking Forward
With the Trinity Invite over, the Grizzlies will have almost a two-month break before their next meet. Adams State will compete next at the Colorado College Classic Invite from January 16th through January 18th. Another three-day event in Colorado Springs will allow the Grizzlies to continue to progress after their top 5 finishes for both the Men and Women at the Trinity Invite this past weekend.
