GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado — On Day 1 of the 2025 Intermountain Shootout held by Colorado Mesa, Adams State's men's and women's swim teams finished in third place. The women scored 15 points, putting them behind Colorado Mesa, which scored 206, and Brigham Young University, which scored 224. The men scored 28 points, putting them behind Colorado Mesa, which scored 187, and Brigham Young University, which scored 252.
Women's Events
200 Yard Freestyle Relay—The Adams State Relay team of Eleanor Schafer, Kennedy Larson, Savanna Spicuzza-Woodcock, and Clare Bonham finished in fifth place, with a final time of 1:52.66, scoring 8 points for the Grizzly women.
1000 yard Freestyle- Finishing in 13th and securing 1 point for the Grizzlies was Eleanor Schafer. Schafer finished with a final time of 12:12.35.
100 Yard IM - The Grizzlies had three women collect points in the 100 Yard IM. In 12th place, securing 3 points was Clare Bonham with a final time of 1:11.34. In 13th was Brenna Otteman with a final time of 1:13.42, securing 2 points, and in 14th, securing 1 point for the Grizzlies was Savanna Spicuzza-Woodcock with a final time of 1:13.60.
Men's Events
400 Yard Medley Relay- The Adams State Relay team, composed of Kenny Rupp, Keenan Johnson, Devin Walters, and Zane Spears, finished fifth with a final time of 3:44:62, giving the Grizzlies 8 points. Finishing in sixth place was the Adams State Relay team of Ben Brewer, Victor Lebsock, Dillon Brown, and Mike Eckley, who finished with a final time of 3:45.70, securing 6 points for the Grizzlies
200 Yard Freestyle Relay- The Grizzlies finished with a fifth and sixth place finish, securing a total of 14 points overall. In fifth place was the relay team of Kenny Rupp, Dillon Brown, Mike Eckley, and Keenan Johnson, who finished with a final time of 1:31.57. In sixth place was the relay team of Jess Baker, Victor Lebsock, Zane Spears, and Devin Walters, who finished with a final time of 1:33.14.
Looking Forward
The Grizzlies will again compete at the Intermountain Shootout in Grand Junction today on Day 2 of the event. The Grizzlies will look to build upon their Day 1 results, closing out a good two-day event in Grand Junction, Colorado, before coming home.
