GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado — On Day 2 of the 2025 Intermountain Shootout held by Colorado Mesa, both the Men's and Women's Adams State Swim teams finished in third place behind Colorado Mesa and BYU. During Day 2, the women for Adams State were able to secure 34 points, and the men were able to secure 36 points on the day.
Women's Events
200 Yard Medley Relay - During the 200 Yard Medley relay event, Adams State was able to secure both fifth and sixth place in the event, giving them 14 points. In fifth place was the relay team of Ashlyn Popham, Annika Schaak, Jocelyn Jones, and Ryley Martinez. The four women finished with a final time of 2:06.09 and collected 8 points. In sixth place was the relay team of Clare Bonham, Kennedy Larson, Savanna Spicuzza-Woodcock, and Brenna Otteman. These four women were able to finish with a final time of 2:07.76 and collect 6 points for the Grizzlies.
500 Yard Freestyle - Collecting 1 point and finishing in 14th place for the Grizzlies was Eleanor Schafer. Eleanor finished with a final time of 5:54.56 in the event.
Women 50 Yard Backstroke - The Grizzlies were able to secure 5 points in the 50 Yard backstroke event with an 8th and 9th place finish by Kennedy Larson and Annika Schaak, respectively. Kennedy collected 3 points with her 8th place finish with a final time of 38.61, and Annika was able to collect 2 points with her 9th place finish with a time of 39.87.
400 Yard Freestyle Relay - Collecting 14 total points in the 400 Yard Freestyle relay event were 2 relay teams for the Grizzlies. Finishing in 5th place and collecting 8 points for the Grizzlies was the relay team of Clare Bonham, Kennedy Larson, Savanna Spicuzza-Woodcock, and Eleanor Schafer. The four women finished with a time of 3:36.79 for their fifth-place finish. Finishing in sixth place was the relay team of Jocelyn Jones, Brenna Otteman, Ashlyn Popham, and Ryley Martinez. The four women finished with a time of 3:58.49 to collect 6 points for the Grizzlies.
Men's Events
200 Yard Medley Relay - Adams State was able to collect both fifth and sixth place in the 200 Yard Medley relay event. Finishing in fifth place was the relay team of Ben Brewer, Keenan Johnson, Devin Walters, and Kenny Rupp. The four men finished with a time of 1:40.61 and collected 8 points for the Grizzlies. In sixth place, collecting 6 points for the Grizzlies was the relay team of Duncan Cumby, Victor Lebsock, Dillon Brown, and Mike Eckley. These four men finished with a final time of 1:47.02.
50 Yard Breaststroke - Finishing in 9th and 10th place, collecting 3 points for the Grizzlies were Keenan Johnson and Eric Branco. Johnson finished in 9th place, collecting 2 points with a final time of 29.03, while Branco finished in 10th, collecting 1 point for the Grizzlies with a final time of 34.20.
200 Yard Backstroke - Collecting 1 point with a 9th place finish for the Grizzlies was Kenny Rupp. Rupp finished with a time of 2:02.92 to collect his 9th-place finish.
400 Yard Freestyle Relay - In the 400 Yard Freestyle relay, the Grizzlies were able to collect a fourth-place and fifth-place finish in the event to collect a total of 18 points. Finishing in fourth place was the relay team of Victor Lebsock, Dillon Brown, Devin Walters, and Kenny Rupp. The four men finished with a final time of 3:19.62 to collect 10 points in the event. Finishing in fifth place, collecting 8 points for the Grizzlies was the relay team of Keenan Johnson, Quenten Madrid, Mike Eckley, and Zane Spears. The four men finished with a time of 3:29.28 to collect their fifth-place finish.
Looking Forward
The Adams State Men's and Women's Swim team will compete again next weekend in the 2025 Colorado School of Mines Triangular event. The event will be another two-day event and will start on Friday, October 10th, and will finish on Saturday, October 11th. The event will be held by Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, and will be the final away event before the Grizzlies have their first home meet at the beginning of November.
