Grand Junction, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies women's golf team made the trip to Grand Junction over the weekend to take part in the Maverick Challenge, hosted at the scenic Redlands Mesa Golf Course. Competing in a strong field of nearly 25 golfers, the Grizzlies battled through challenging conditions across two days of play on Saturday and Sunday.
Keona Weirick led the charge for Adams State, putting together a consistent performance to finish in 17th place overall. She carded matching rounds of +12 on both days, bringing her tournament total to +24.
Taylor Butler followed close behind, earning a 22nd-place finish with a weekend total of +36. Butler opened the tournament with a round of +20 and improved on Sunday with a +16 to cap off her solid showing.
Rounding out the lineup was Anastasia Sanchez, who finished 24th with a weekend total of +86.
The Maverick Challenge marked another opportunity for the Grizzlies to test themselves as they prepare for the RMAC Championships which kicks off April 20th in Boulder City, Nev.
