Boulder City, Nev. – Adams State finished Day One of the RMAC Women's Golf Championship in 10th place, highlighted by a strong performance from Keona Weirick.
The Grizzlies opened the tournament with a team score of 59-over par. Weirick leads Adams State after recording five birdies through 18 holes, including birdies on her first two holes of the day. The senior from Cedar Crest, N.M., is tied for 36th place at 7-over par after shooting a 79.
Naomi Smith is second among the Grizzlies after posting an 85 (13-over) in the opening round. The freshman from Roswell, N.M., sits in 49th place.
Taylor Butler, a senior from Farr West, Utah, shot an 89 (17-over) on Day One and recorded one birdie through 18 holes.
Isabel Galloway and Kaiylin Vigil round out the Grizzlies lineup, sitting at 22-over and 27-over, respectively, through the first 18 holes.
CSU Pueblo leads the team standings at 1-under par after the opening round.
The Grizzlies will begin Day Two with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. MT due to expected high winds in the afternoon.
