Alamosa, Colo. – The 2025 Adams State Baseball season will go down as one of the most successful campaigns in program history during the NCAA Division II era. With postseason milestones, individual accolades, and record-breaking performances, the Grizzlies raised the bar on and off the field.
Adams State picked up its first-ever playoff wins in the new era (since 2013), defeating both UCCS and Regis en route to a semifinal appearance against perennial powerhouse Colorado Mesa in the RMAC Tournament. The postseason run marked the second consecutive playoff appearance for the Grizzlies, signaling a rising program momentum under head coach Bruce Del Tondo.
Two freshmen led the way with standout debut seasons. Josiah Hall was named RMAC Freshman Player of the Year. On the mound, Joe Marek earned Co-Freshman Pitcher of the Year, showcasing the strength of the next generation of Adams State baseball. They become just the second and third Grizzlies to earn freshman of the year honors.
Senior utility Phil Carter had a season to remember, earning First Team All-Region honors as a Utility Pitcher—the first such regional honor for the Grizzlies since the start of the new era. Carter advanced to the All-American ballot, and his production at the plate was equally impressive, as he set the single-season home run record with 18 bombs. He was also named Second Team All-RMAC as a Designated Hitter, alongside Hall (Outfield) and Seth Reker (Third Base).
Defensively, Connar Murray stood out on the mound, earning a RMAC Gold Glove Award for his work as a pitcher, while veteran Cesar Loma closed out his career as Adams State's new career leader in both innings pitched (202) and strikeouts (184). In the bullpen, Ty Addington etched his name in the record books by becoming the program's all-time leader in career saves with 11.
In the classroom, the Grizzlies continued to shine. The team posted a strong 3.314 cumulative GPA, with 33 student-athletes finishing above a 3.0 GPA. A total of 22 Grizzlies were named to the RMAC All-Academic Honorable Mention list, a testament to the team's dedication and balance on both ends of the student-athlete experience.
The 2025 season laid the foundation for even bigger things ahead in Alamosa.
