MORRISON, Colorado — During the Western Colorado University vs. Adams State Duel, the Grizzlies fell to Western by a final score of 211-16. In today's Duel the Grizzlies placed in the top four six times during the event.
1650 Free - During the 1650 yard Freestyle race, Eleanor Schafer took third place for the Grizzlies. Schafer finished the event with a final time of 21:04.47 to collect her third place finish. The Grizzlies also placed fifth in the 1650 Freestyle with Kennedy Larson finishing with a final time of 21:24.60 to collect her fifth place finish.
50 Freestyle - In the 50 yard Freestyle race, Ashlyn Popham collected their second third place finish with a final time of 26.05. Popham finished just behind the two Western Colorado swimmers who finished in first and second as she was only 0.21 seconds behind the second-place finisher, and 0.65 seconds behind the race winner.
500 Freestyle - In the 500 yard Freestyle, Ashlyn Popham collected a fourth place finish for the Grizzlies. Popham finished with a final time of 5:55.57 to finish in fourth place.
100 Free - Jocelyn Jones collected the Grizzlies third, third place finish in the 100 yard Freestyle with a final time of 1:00.50. Jones's final time was just 1.20 seconds behind the second place finisher for Western Colorado.
200 Free Relay - In the 200 yard Freestyle Relay, the Grizzlies Adams State A team finished in fourth place. The relay team of Ashlyn Popham, Brenna Otteman, Eleanor Schafer, and Jocelyn Jones finished with a final time of 1:49.76 to collect their fourth palace finish.
The Grizzly women will next compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships in two and half weeks. The RMAC Championships will be February 10th thru February 14th. The Championships will be a great opportunity for the Grizzlies to finish their season strong by racing fast and collecting a few top-3 finishes before their season comes to an end.
