CHADRON, Neb. — Adams State erased a two-set deficit and completed a reverse sweep of Chadron State on Friday night inside the Chicoine Center.
The Grizzlies (9–8, 3–2 RMAC) claimed the five-set victory, 23–25, 14–25, 28–26, 25–17, 15–11.
Carolisa Folau led Adams State with 17 kills, 12 digs, and four service aces. Aubrey Rothermich added 12 kills, four blocks, and two aces, while Rowan Tribelhorn finished with 11 kills and a team-high six blocks.
Ashlyn Jones anchored the defense with 29 digs. Isabella DeLaRosa recorded 38 assists and eight digs, while Ellie Miller added 17 assists.
Adams State nearly erased a seven-point deficit in the opening set. The Grizzlies fought back from 15–8 and scored three straight points while facing set point, cutting the Chadron State lead to 24–23. The Eagles ended the rally with a kill to take the set, 25–23.
Chadron State used an extended run in the second set to build a 2–0 match lead with a 25–14 victory.
The Grizzlies changed the match in a back-and-forth third set that featured eight ties and seven lead changes. Adams State trailed 23–20 before tying the set at 23. The Grizzlies then fought off two Chadron State set points. Folau broke a 26–26 tie with an ace, and Lizzie MacIntosh followed with a kill to secure the 28–26 win.
Adams State carried the momentum into the fourth set. With the score tied at 17, the Grizzlies closed the frame on an 8–0 run. Folau delivered four kills during the run, including the final two points of the 25–17 victory.
Chadron State held an 11–10 advantage late in the fifth set before Adams State answered with five straight points. Tribelhorn tied the set with a kill before a block from Tribelhorn and MacIntosh gave the Grizzlies the lead. Folau followed with an ace, and MacIntosh closed the comeback with a kill.
Adams State finished with 67 kills, nine aces, 82 digs, and 12 blocks. The Grizzlies limited Chadron State to one service ace and produced 30 kills across the final two sets.
