Colorado Springs, Colo. – Adams State women's wrestling competed at the RMAC Championships on Saturday, finishing third as a team with four wrestlers placing inside the top four.
At 103 pounds, Mia Siqueiros earned a second-place finish. Siqueiros opened the tournament with a 10-0 technical fall over Kinlee Brandley in 1:06 before falling by 10-4 decision to Brianna Vollendroff in the championship match.
Wrestling at 138 pounds, McKenna Hendrickson also claimed a runner-up finish. Hendrickson pinned Anika Chartrand of Simon Fraser in just 21 seconds before defeating Abigail Gallardo of Texas Woman's by fall in 1:51 in the semifinals. She fell by 11-0 technical fall in the title bout to secure the silver medal.
At 145 pounds, Dakota Hull won her opening match by fall in 2:32 before advancing to the finals with a 10-4 decision over Mackenzi Blue of Texas Woman's University in the semifinals. Hull finished second after falling in the championship match to No. 1-ranked Liv Weiber of Simon Fraser.
The Grizzlies' lone third-place finisher was Flavia Nagatani at 117 pounds. Nagatani opened the tournament with a fall in 1:38 before dropping her next match. She rebounded on the consolation side with a 42-second fall and secured third place with a 14-3 technical fall in 3:56.
Julia Donnelly was the lone first place finisher for the Grizzlies at 124 pounds. '
Adams State finished third with 147 points, trailing Simon Fraser and Colorado Mesa, with SFU claiming the team title.
The Grizzlies will now turn their attention to the NCAA Regional Championships on Feb. 21 as they look to qualify wrestlers for the national tournament.
