Emporia, Kan. – Three Adams State student-athletes found their way to the podium Friday evening during the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The trio represented the Grizzlies' lone competitors on Day 2.
Housem Hrabi got things started for Adams State with a fourth-place finish in the men's steeplechase. Hrabi crossed the line in 8:52.95 to secure the finish.
On the women's side, Marie Garret placed sixth, while Haley Harkrider finished eighth. Garret earned her second All-American honor of the year after previously claiming indoor All-American recognition as part of the distance medley relay team. She ran 10:25.05 to secure sixth place.
Harkrider posted a personal-best time of 10:30.00 en route to an eighth-place finish and her first career first-team All-American honor. The junior's performance capped a breakthrough national meet appearance.
Following Day 2, the Adams State men sit eighth in the team standings with 11 points, while the women are 24th with four points. The Grizzlies return to action Saturday in the 5,000-meter run beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT / 5:30 p.m. MT.
