COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 28, 2017) – On Tuesday, Adams State University junior guard
Brandon Sly was named a Second Team All-RMAC performer.
In his first season with the Grizzlies, Sly led the team in scoring average (16.5), three-point percentage (.422), made three-pointers (57), free throw percentage (.881), assists (122), assists per game (4.4), steals (40), and minutes played per game (33.5).
At the conference level Sly ranks second in free throw percentage, fourth in assists and minutes played, seventh in steals, and 11
th in scoring.
The Los Angeles native played in all 28 regular season games and eclipsed 15 or more points in 17 contests. He netted a single-game high 27 points at Colorado Christian University on 12/30/16 and followed with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds the following night at Chadron State College.
In the final eight regular season games, Sly elevated his game by posting 19.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 51 percent from the field (57-111) and a staggering 52 percent from three-point territory (23-44). In a thrilling 78-77 win at Westminster on 2/25/17, the junior drained a deep three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left. In the win, Sly was responsible for Adams State's final 15 points.
Joshua Blaylock (Fort Lewis) was named the RMAC Player of the Year and Nelson Kahler (CSU-Pueblo) was declared RMAC Defensive Player of the Year. Pryor Orser (Colorado Mines) was selected RMAC Coach of the Year.
RMAC Freshman of the Year was a three-way tie between Riley Farris (Fort Lewis), Christian Little (Regis), and Jake Heath (South Dakota Mines).
Sly and the Grizzlies play at Colorado School of Mines tonight at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the RMAC Tournament.
